X10 or G10

Am looking to get one of the above models, but am stuck.I could get an x10 for 629 from jl who are also knocking £70 off bd players if buying a tv,or pay 900 for the g10. I watch a lot of football and plan to get a bd player soon, and was wondering how much better bluray would look on g10 rather than a x10.I will be sitting 8-10 feet away.

Re: X10 or G10

Well you will get very little if any benefit from 1080p in the G10, unless you either sat closer or bought the 50" model, but the G10 does have deeper blacks, which will make movies better, and better motion (resolution) which will favour sport but will also help with movies.

The X10 is the better set if you're just watching regular TV, but I would say that the G10 is worth the extra if what you're watching demands the best motion handling and black levels (that you can afford), which yours do, so I'd say the G10 would be a good buy but, the X10 is very good, and would work very well with your uses, so if budget is a big concern and the money for the G10 isn't really there, then I would say the X10 is deffinitely a bargain, but get the G10 if the money is there, especially if you plan to make good use of the blu-ray player

Re: X10 or G10

Thanks Monarch, atm prob not going to get full advantage of full hd but in next 18 months would hope to,dont know how much better if at all sky hd or 1080 camcorders or bd would be on the g10,if there is a clear difference,i would stump up the xtra as you also get the benefit of freesat.

Re: X10 or G10

Well you wont get the full benefit of 1080p basically because you're sat too far away, even with 1080p native material (like blu-ray) you would struggle to see the difference between 720p and 1080p at this size from your viewing distance, maybe a slight improvement around 8ft, but that really is where the benefit starts to come in.

As I said, the main thing you will benefit from in the G10 is motion resolution and black levels, black levels being vital to overall picture quality and depth, the X10 has very good blacks but on occasion can still look a bit grey if you're watching a dark scene in a movie or something, you shouldn't have such issues with the G10's very deep blacks, although still not reaching Kuro level. The G10 also offers a full 1080 lines of motion resolution, which is a tough claim, I think the X10 comes in a 900 lines, which is still good, but again, the G10 will be that bit better.
