Ill keep an eye on the Panasonic HDD range and see if something looks suitable though.

I really think you should consider the PVR rather than the HDD. Either way, you're going to be buying one more piece of hardware. As fattage himself said, his sky plus has made his HDD redundant. The Humax PVRs are more or less the same as the 'sky +' box but you don't have to pay any subscriptions and they're really easy to use. They have 'series link' which enables you select a programme once and it'll be recorded every time it comes on until you instruct otherwise. The pause and rewind live TV sounds gimmicky but I guarantee, you would use it - amongst many of the other features.
I'm only giving you the hard sell because you said that you knew nothing about it. That means you don't realise how good these things really are - I'd get rid of my fridge before I got rid of my PVR I'm going on a bit, I'll shut up now

Re: Panasonic G10 Owners Thread - Part 2
Hi all,
What audio settings do I set my PS3 to when using HDMI for audio as well.
There are several 2 speaker settings with different frequency rates.
Just using the G10 42" speakers for the time being before an upgrade to an AV receiver.
Thanks all.

I certainly wouldn't get rid of my Humax foxsat PVR. I'm just pleased that I can also make use of my old Panny HDD recorder on the odd occasions I want to record 3 things at once!

Are you using the Foxsat with a G10 then? What is the freeview picture like from the Foxsat compared to the inbuilt G10 tuner? It connects via HDMI doesn't it? I'm assuming that would improve the scaling of the terrestrial channels!?
I've just bought a G10 and I'm waiting to install it downstairs. I currently have a Humax 9200T but I'm considering the Foxsat because of the HD content and the hope that it will improve the quality of the SD channels.

Re: Panasonic G10 Owners Thread - Part 2
If the HDMI Output on the Foxsat is anything like the 9300, it's not great.

Re: Panasonic G10 Owners Thread - Part 2
Has anyone got a test video I can take to the store to test the g10 for phosphor trails? Something like the video on this page What’s That Green Trail On My Plasma?
Or can anyone tell me how to make one? I just want to make sure I (hopefully) dont see them

Yes Foxsat + G10 (only 42" ) connected by HDMI. I'm very happy with the SD Free sat picture whether it's upscaled by the foxsat or the TV - haven't been able to tell the difference as yet. No digital terrestrial to try as yet in the wilderness in which I live!

on G.B. version around 45% seems to be about right.i used the D.V.E calibration disc to get this value. that goes for both settings.

Correct. All calibrators will tell you to remove sharpness on Bluray 1080p. It is not needed, and just introduces imperfections and artifacts in the actual recorded program.
Now, Freeview SD is another thing. Sharpness can sometimes improve the deficiencies in the broadcast, compressed picture.

Does this also hold for the panasonic 0 sharpness for HD, some people at the internet are talkin about the midpoint on panasonic being 0 sharpness and everything under making things extra blurry.
But in conclusion sharpness on SD should be higher than on HD?
Will test tonight with a small calibration video for sharpness on ps3..

i used the D.V.E calibration disc to set the sharpness. to low and the picture becomes to soft to high and the picture developes edge enhancements.the D.V.E.disc is blu ray and also in 1080p.i found the sharpness test pattern to be very good on this particular calibration disc.i think Rewerb you might be mistaking digital enhancement settings that should all be set to off i have not read any reviews were the ths sharpness is off for Blu Ray.
