Last few HDR shots from around Chester

I promised myself to have a "HDR free" april so needed to get this bug out of my system in March. C&C welcome:

Re: Last few HDR shots from around Chester

Well these have been zapped havent they Mark very full on.They might just get HDR out of your system.

Dont write HDR of though if you are a bit more subtle in the tone mapping section and then layer an original Raw image over the tone mapped version in PS...you can blend the two to make a far more natural looking image.

As it goes these make my eyes bleed

Re: Last few HDR shots from around Chester

Hey Mark,

love em - spend quite a bit of time down by the river/canal - and I love how RAW the images look.

Would love to be able to do stuff like this - any chance of some lessons???

ok i'll try:

1) take 3 exposures using apature priority mode on a tripod using raw mode, i also used a 2 sec delay to ensure no movement but you can use a remote
2) I then used "Dynamic Photo HDR" as per these instructions here:
Dynamic Photo HDR | MyPhotoSoft

easy. I have fallen into the trap of getting the HDR bug in that all the pictures I have taken recently I have tried to process in HDR. "Real world" images (like trees, flowers etc) just dont seem to work but tin cans, padlocks, doors etc work great (see my flickr stream).

p.s. You'll find that HDR images are like Marmite - People either like what you have done or hate it. My personal fav is the bandstand.

Re: Last few HDR shots from around Chester

Not sure you need to bother with 3 RAW shots for HDR, may be wrong.

Maybe but if you use just one picture then I think thats classed as psudo HDR, this wiki is worth a read:

High dynamic range imaging - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Anyway - i use 3 as my 450d has something called AEB which I set to -2,0,+2 exposures and makes life easy with HDR (maybe a little too easy!).

Couldn't resist another one last night.....

Re: Last few HDR shots from around Chester

The original ones are very spooky.

I do like the bench though - very nice.

Can you only do HDR if you have special software?

See post 5 above for link to software.

I can see this weekend a load of people down the river at Chester trying to recreate these shots!! All of them forum members

Cheers
