I usually don't do that much PP on them, but I spend about 10 mins on each photo.
Most of the images were taken when it was dull and rainy, so they're not too contrasty and look vibrant.
I shoot RAW and process them first with NX2, correct colour balance etc.
Then import into Ps to finish it off.

Fantastic stuff Mr Bloke.

My faves were #442 and #455. The way you've made the little hill of rock look so majestic with the little tree poking out of the top is magic. And the composition - with the lead in lines and all the "rules" adhered to is just marvellous.

I could see that you hadn't done too much PP which makes them all the better.

As you know the camera is one fine piece of Ass
I'd only had the camera a few weeks before going on vacation and I read that to get maximum sharpness from a lens, you needed to set a mid range f stop i.e. f8.
But that doesn't allow much DOF, so each shot you see with front to back sharpness is 2 exposures blended together (one near and one far focused)
I since know with the D700 I can use smaller f's without losing image quality.
I don't really pay much attention to the rule of thirds or give it much thought.
I just naturally frame a scene how I see it. It's either a gift or dumb luck, you decide

I know what you mean about the rule of thirds. I thinks it's best to take the shot as you see it too. What I do like is your lead-in lines though. Whether you do that on purpose or naturally it really works

Looking forward to Ely too. I went yesterday for an hour. I thought I'd better get some practice after seeing your excellent images

Yeah been there in August 100F+ the walk up to Angels Landing certainly got the blood pumping! Still the Narrows at the end of the day is a great place to cool off. Agree Spring/Fall is a better time to visit.

I never been up Angel's Landing or walked up The Narrows.
On this trip I was going to go up A.L. but the weather was dull and cloudy.
When I revisited Zion a weeks later, I did the River Walk, but didn't cross the river.
I've never been able to find out, once you've crossed the river, how far can you walk up stream before it gets deep i.e. knee level ?
And for whatever distance it is, is it worth it for taking photos ?
Or do you need to really wet to see the good stuff (Subway etc)?
