Hi all,
Just thought I'd share a few photos - I'd welcome your comments and criticisms. My first baby, Joshua, was born 2 weeks ago. In hospital I was dismayed somewhat at the cost of a few cheapish "professional" photos and thought I'd give it a go myself. Here's my first attempts, I'd love to know anything you'd do differently.
They were all shot with a Canon 40D with a Sigma 50mm F/1.4 prime lens - pretty much always at f/8 ISO100 1/50th second. I bought a studio flash kit from Amazon (
link) which I thought was a bargain at less than the cost of a lot of single studio photoshoots - and I can do this then whenever I want. After trying a few (well, OK, a lot, I hadn't really done this before!) different lighting options I had two flashes with softboxes at the back at a 20 degree(ish) angle, one at 1/3 power and one at 2/3 power. The third flash was pointing at the backdrop behind (just a piece of blackout fabric from Dunelm) at about 1/2 power.
