nice captures SevloW - not too sure about the processing TBH - look a bit noisy/grainy ? - can't see EXIF so some shooting info. would be appreciated as I'm still "considering" a compact swap and interested in the LX5....

Thanks Jim - Think the highlight/shadows processing makes the grain stand out more than normal. He was moving about a bit so probably a bit of camera wobble in there as well !

Both @ f2 iso 800 - 1/50 sec

Thnaks for the info. - probably a combination of the 800 ISO and the processing I guess

Spotted the opportunity and took this one, utilising the light from the laptop - camera was resting on arm of sofa opposite - it has been cropped, I've posted the full sized version in my A55 thread

Quick one of my daughter taken in low light, she would not stay still for one second! (sorry Jim the head crop was deliberate :-) )

LOL Richard

Nice capture - Love the expression - even like the processing - pity the eyes are so soft though...

To be honest it was shot at f1.7 and the whole image is pretty soft, need to get the lens checked out as I'm sure it isn't focusing properly.

TBH - I think it's technique related due to the shallow DOF - if you look at the hair on the right hand side a section of it looks quite sharp... what AF point did you use for focus ?

Worth doing a back/front focus test for yourself as that would have the same effect...

I used a single AF focus point in the dead centre and aimed it at her nose.

Portraits are most definitely a weak point for me. I really need to practice these more, but I feel more uncomfortable doing these than I do with my candid street shots.

I think it's the feeling of not wanting to let anyone down and wasting their time if they are crap. I am very tempted to start one of those 100 people projects though. If anything it should boost my confidence on the street.

Here's a few of the ones I have done so far.

2.

3.

4.

5.

Ruby Monday

Flying visit from grandaughter today, who has made a solemn vow never to let me photograph her without her moving at 100mph or holding something in front of her face.
Managed just the one though
