Saturday Streetwork...

Once the fog had lifted I took a risk and went to town.... busy, but nothing really happening until one lonesome busker arrived. An opportunity to try my new camera and 50mm lens. Both worked well, spot on focus and very low noise. All shot at ISO 400. This isn't the focal length I like to work with as I prefer to get in much closer at 200mm equivalent and upwards. But I certainly like the 50mm... a keeper without doubt.

F2.8

F1.4

F4.0

F2.8

Nice shots and good PP work, the first and third shots are my faves.

Which 50mm have you bought?

Hi John

I went for the F1.4 50mm g version.. I have shot indoors with it at F1.4 and wasn't expecting very much by the way of quality at such big apertures. Pleasantly surprised though... not too soft and probably quite flattering for portraits/wedding work as the results are certainly smoother. At F2.8 it is sharp and above F4 it cuts like a knife. This is a lens to 'get to know' and thereby use its strengths to your advantage.

Pete

P.S I will only be really 'flying' once my telephoto prime arrives.... hopefully not too long to wait... tight shots are just the way I like to shoot, although I must say I will certainly use the 50mm for Streetwork again...really quite pleased with it.

Normal service resumes

I can never understand why people would want to do what the girl in #3 has done to herself, must be getting old

I can understand you entirely... She was so nice to me when I asked to take her picture. And she is clearly a very beautiful young lady... just going through ...a phase....
....I went through a few 'phases' as a teenager.... none of them were particularly attractive though

and yes....we're all getting older She certainly had a look about her... a style, I liked it although if she was my daughter I would probably have despaired!!

Just looking a bit closer at the shot of the girl and she has a Lowepro(same bag as mine) on her back, did she have a camera, maybe thats why she was happy to pose.

I'm sure she is a loverly girl and yes I would be mortified if it was my daughter, I freaked out when she had her belly button pieced

I have the 1.4 D and I think it would stand up well against the newer model, I have no complaints about it that's for sure From what I have read the Sigma is the one to get. And talking of Sigma I understand what you say about having a telephot lens for street candids as I use the Sigma 150 2.8

I didn't see a camera, but it wouldn't surprise me if she turned out to be a photographer as part of her student work or profession in some way? She just seems to have that look about her....

Pete.
