Re: Out and about Glasgow City Centre....

Nice shots.

I love Glasgow;I'm usually there two or three times a year (over again in 2 weeks time). I must remember to bring my camera.

Re: Out and about Glasgow City Centre....

I like the wee St Enoch one. I remember my mum driving in to the city centre and parking in, what was then, the St Enoch train station. It was a disused station at that time. Then it was demolished and they eventually built the big shopping centre in the hole that was left...

I used to work around that area of Bothwell St as well...

Re: Out and about Glasgow City Centre....

Yes the St. Enoch one is my Fav. as well - when you see that building from the other side it always looks to me as if it's "out of context" a bit now due to the St. Enoch Centre redevelopment - especially now as the Centre is being refurbished.

It always kind of reminds me of the Tardis - as if it's just "landed" somewhere it doesn't really fit in.

Yep, these bring some memories of my many trips to Glasgow - have you got any of the Pot Still in Hope Street?

Nope John - but I'll pop up one lunchtime during the week and snap a couple.

I heard it's closing down - hasn't fared so well since the smoking ban was introduced. I remember many a night in there when you could hardly see the bar for the smoke clouds - LOL - and as you probably know it's such a small bar anyway.

I used to work just round the corner from it in West Regent St. for a couple of years.

Will be sad if it does go - great whisky collection if you like the stuff.

Jim

I spent a "few" hours in there when I used to have a member of my team based in St Vincent Street and more recently above the Post Office just around the corner.

Indeed it would be sad, but I hardly ever drink whiskey but whisky, now that is a different matter

Re: Out and about Glasgow City Centre....

Spelling corrected - didn't expect a Sassenach to spot that one John

Funnily enough my first job after University was based in St. Vincent St.

If we get a dry day next week I'll pop up and visit the "Still" and check it's still open - purely as Cultural Research you understand

The Pot Still seems to be in sharper focus than I remember and I am sure that incline was steeper, but thanks for the memories

Looking forward to the interior shots

There's a chance I might be heading up there tonight from work so if I do I'll see if I can get some shots "before"

I wonder if they still have the brass water taps on the bar for those hitting the cask strength stuff?

I thought I had commented on these before

How did you stay out of the pub long enough to take all these

Never been to Glasgow before, dont think I will bother now

I'm out with a mate of mine on Friday from Glasgow for a Ruby.

Anyway back to your shots,I'm not going to drop to your levels and mention levels and alike, all taken in the Business part by the looks of things, I like the pub one best but not for the obvious.

Overall nice insight to your Hometown
