Bony night

Went to the local park for there fireworks extravaganda. Got there at 6 then heard there llighting bonfire at 7. Lovely mild dry night, until 6.45 that is rain started, DOH all way back to car for large brolly, the one I reminded the other half to get, "we wont need that she", she said. Back at bonfire, fireworks at 8pm walked around got wetwalked around a bit more, got a lot wet. So the girlfriend ended up being my shelter whilst I set up. First time trying fireworkds, trying to remember all I had read about settings ect. Only lasted around 15mins, used the K20D and cable release, the thing wouldnt take another shot whilst it was showing the preview of the shot I just took. Note to mysself, turn the bloody preview off next time. Got some. shots, but missed the finale DOH. She wassnt best pleased by this time, so we headed back to the car via the fair that was present there, well I had to try a shot or two of the rides didnt I. Didnt take too long, the GFs patience had gone 20mins earlier.Got some keepers though.

Heres one or two, others to process yet.

Above two taken with Sigma 105mm Tripod, cable release.

Sigma 10-20mm

BONY NIGHT not heard that saying since I was knee high to a grasshopper back home in Merseyside, too many years that I care to remember.

Nice story and some very colourful shots

We always called it Bommie (spelling?) night as kids (in Merseyside), though why it went from 'bon' to 'bom' I don't know.

@ sbowler: the shot of the firework has a great balance of light and composition. I love the way you have caught the crowd and their shadows. Even the light pollution glow on the horizon looks good. Any more?

Re: Bony night

Shouldnt it be BONNY night as Bony night could be phonetically said as BONEY night which is another kettle of fish

...I think you're getting confused with "Boner Night" - still when all that blood rushes from one head to the other it's understandable I suppose...
