Re: Saturday Street Work...

Hello there

Great set off shots.

You really have caught the blokes on the guitar well, hard to pick one out like John said but do like the 7th one, which I think is a very nice portrait.

Another eye catcher is 5th one, I like the way the conductor is the main focus. Well framed

Cheers Holo

Re: Saturday Street Work...

Thanks guys,

This could be the last of my Saturday pics with my current gear... sold a second lens of mine yesterday and now just have left my Zuiko 50-200SWD and E620, which will be going over the next week, via ebay.

It looks like I am going to plump for a Nikon D300s with a suitable starting lens, perhaps the 85mm F1.4 (second hand)and that will be a keeper until I can afford a zoom of decent quality....

...mind you I could still swing in the last minute for a Canon 7D, but I would be surprising myself if I did...

Really excited to be upgrading to such an expensive camera body, I would have gone with the Olympus E3, but prefer what the Nikon is capable of

Pete

Re: Saturday Street Work...

Thanks Tonkie,

That was a very nice thing to read

I am hoping the change will be relatively quick and painless.... my eyes seem to be glued to ebay at the moment as I am now pretending to be 'the big white lens hunter'

As John pointed out earlier I need to get the glass right too... It's not just about the camera body and the Zuiko 50-200 F2.8 is a hard act to follow on the budget I have...think tight Yorkshire g*t, and that's roughly me...

Pete.

Yes - but as Gordon has shown recently - it's even more about the eye behind the camera - and you've got a good eye for the shots without a doubt so I'm sure we'll continue to see some impressiove stuff whatever you end up with

Re: Saturday Street Work...

Cheers Jim, that's really kind of you to say,

It's true, sometimes it doesn't matter what kit you have if you capture a shot... I remember seeing a post somewhere regarding a kingfisher that had been caught by a chap using a Lumix LX3 (I think)... He sat in a hide for ages and ages, possibly overnight too.. He had some wood stood upright in a strategic location and hoped for the best. I don't know if this is urban legend or not, but I saw the shot and it took my breath away. Some very good PP had been done to the image but you have to have a great shot to start with too....
I have enjoyed using my Olympus gear but as I progress and get to be a 'more serious' amateur I feel that I have out grown the consumer level and now wish to step up a gear to stuff that is very consistent and reliable in all kinds of light...

Really excited about the changes I'm making

Pete
