Brother inkjet refill kit query

Hi, I have a Brother DCP-110C inkjet printer. To do my bit for the environment, and 'cos I am skint, I bought an ink refill kit from Tesco for £4.99 for colour and black!

Anyway, there are detailed instructions how to refill for each make of cartridge, yet, it appears that for my Brother cartridge, after I have manually drilled a small hole into it, I do not need to fill the hole with a plug For most of the other cartridges, it states to do so, but not for mine.

Has anyone come across this before, does it sound reasonable? I am just a bit concerned about placing this cartridge with a hole in it back into my printer!

Re: Brother inkjet refill kit query

I'm not familiar with that printer but some carts have an ink reservoir (i.e. liquid ink) while others store their ink "suspended" in sponge.

I suspect your Brother falls into the latter category...............ink "absorbed", can't spill etc.

Good theory anyway.............. .

Re: Brother inkjet refill kit query

Well, I went for it and just tried the newly refilled cartridge, without plugging the hole and it was fine

So, all being well, I have saved a few quid, and done my bit for the environment (landfill and all that)
