27" IPS 1440p monitors for £230

Looks like a real bargain.

Those 27-inch IPS displays from Korea are for real - The Tech Report - Page 1

I'd get one if I didn't have to pay for a load of canapes!

Hmm, it does look rather tempting and has a pretty good write up! As the fella says in the article it may be worth waiting to see if these monitors start to appear in some of the online stores across here.

They sell similar one at ocuk with 3 year warrenty. I got myself Korean monitor , similar to one in article but it only had Dvi input as it has much lower input lag. Well worth the money !

Just to be fussy it should be 1440p

Good price and depending on quality could be a real bargain. I love my 1440p IPS panel.

I've been looking at 27" IPS' for a while now and if you are after a glossy display it's hard to justify getting anything other than one of the Korean imports. Unfortunately glossy is a no go for me but I don't like the AG coating used on everything else either so there's pretty much only the Samsung S27A850D left. It's more expensive than a u2711 though .

Having owned both the dells matte anti glare panels and the glossy panels from Hazro I can honestly say I love the gloss finish. I'm used to the dells now but I would highly recommend anyone who has their reservations to try the glossy for a week. You may be pleasantly surprised. The most interesting thing about some of the Korean models are the higher refresh rates that can be achieved.
I'll stick with my dell u3011 for now though

Got myself one of the Korean Crossover ones, paid extra for the pixel check. It's a great monitor and I'm sure I saw one of you guys post a pic in the rigs thread with the same type!

Overclockers got greedy, that's why they closed that Korean thread and started their own offering 3 year warranty. At the start those 27" IPS Korean monitors especially the 120hz ones were stupidly cheap. Don't they use LG or Hazro panels or something which is why they are so popular?

I imagine I wouldn't be able to hold myself off of buying one. I'm very tempted to get a 680 or 690 at the moment - 690 because the board I currently have can't do SLI and I may be tempted to go 680 SLI in the future

Pcper.com had a review of these cheap 1440p monitors and was very impressed. I have been toying with buying one ever since.

They use LG panels, it was that thread on Overclockers that persuaded me to get one of these and I haven't been disappointed.

They do look good, particularly the model that can do 97Hz.

I've got the catleap and it's one of the 2b that can be overclocked, it's a stunning monitor! I run it at 110hz but have had it up to 130hz with a shorter dvi cable.

That's what people have been waiting for... a high resolution IPS monitor that can do 120Hz

Can't believe you can get them for less than £200 too.

Well only a few where nabbed at a decent price I got mine from 120hz.net at a bit of a premium, although mine was the first batch so it was still fairly cheap. Think it worked out at £320 in the end but that included custom charges and the loss I made on the first one I bought which couldn't overclock and had a single dead pixel.

As has been stated, these are LG panels but they're the rejects. They're of a fairly low grade and, IIRC, have up to 5 defects - dead pixels, stuck pixels, partially working pixels etc.

It's a bit less appealing when put like that

The 2b models have a unique PCB from LG that allows it to be possible, i've had mine 3~ months and its been fine, most have had them since Feb and not reported a problem.

A- isn't as good as it sounds though. I'm not keen on buying something known to have defects

It took 4 working days, fun tracking it as it goes through all sorts of countries lol. Yeah had to pay £35 customs .

There is a reason why its cheap and this is because the panels have been rejected as A- some are perfect some are awful. Also the overall build quality is pretty poor for some of them such as no scalars or OSDs built in.

But trust me when I say you can't buy a monitor better than mine for any price atm.

Of course but the batch will have been classed A- which is why the panel isn't in a iMac of course some will be fine and other will be awful.

Some people have had them with 300 dead pixels and others with none, even with the dead pixel check.

One dead pixel out of 3.7 million. I think I could live with that. How would you even see it?
