Driver SF runs at 120fps too, although my 580 fan sounds like it's taking off!

To be honest, I'm not seeing much (if any) difference in smoothness. It does seem like some people see it more than others but it doesn't feel or look any different.

Not doing it for the speed Chox, it will be RAID 0 so its 2 drives combined rather than mirroring.

Surely you are doing it for speed if you're putting them in a RAID0 config?

This is my first case from them as I used to be a bit of a Lian-Li fanboy, but now I would seriously consider CM again for any future builds.

TBH Ash, that wasn't the first thing on my mind when I decided to get the second drive. I just wanted all of my mostly used software on '1' drive if you like. My first 512 has only got about 60 GB free and the price that I got the new one for was too good to refuse really.

I wish Chox. I don't think I'll get one at that price again. Well, not until they're outdated anyway.

Yeah cheers Nam for the heads-up about that, it was a pretty harmless experience really. I emailed them on Thursday, they asked a couple of questions and then I mentioned the broken top panel too and they said the parts would be sent out straight away. Took delivery yesterday without any problems at all. Just need some free time to get it all done now plus a reinstall.

Wrong thread I know but thought I'd quickly mention this as others may have the same issue. I installed Win 8 on a VHD last week but it ate nearly all my free space on my main drive so I deleted it after a couple of days. However, it has completely knackered my anti-virus software (F-Secure) where I cannot even open it to change settings plus the firewall has been disabled and won't restart. I changed some things in msconfig but it's still playing up and last night I noticed my Steam games are now giving me code 51 errors. Luckily the reinstall will sort that out.

no problem i did also ask about the wires connected to the Pcb if they were plugs are hardwired as it would make life easier on replacement but i do not think the person on the other end can grasp this situation, only answer i got was complete unit was sent or a pdf page emailed for what all the plug connections mean
i take it you no as you have the unit please tell me before i tell the coolermaster guy he is a numpty but that may not help on replacement
great how they sent you a top panel as well how the hell did that get damaged the cases are pretty well packed.

do not touch beta windows now mate there to much hassle one reason your software is Breaking and throwing errors but get the latest intel chipset drivers if you do a clean install they were released the other day and some big updates as well that may help.

Need to replace the speakers in the bedroom, so I'm going to put my Logitech x140's (which are great for the price) in there and I'm wondering what to replace them with.
I'm not going overboard, so does anyone have any recommendations for under (yes, under - not the budget + x%) £40?

but its illogical not to go over budget , do they have to be speakers, could get a headset, you'd get a lot better quality for that budget

creative t20 or logitech z320 are supposed to be ok, i'd still break the budget for the m-audios though

I have a headset already, but I don't use it all the time & I like having the option of speakers. Would also consider s 2.1 - I had seen the Logi z323's which seem to have good reviews. (Or the x530/budget slip/ but they apparently are prone to speaking in tongues when turned off)

I'd go t20 or second hand t40 as they look better built than the logi's but i wouldnt expect miracles from them, i think for £70 the m-audio are the best 'budget' speakers going, theyre really really good, i'd see if you can try source some from ebay or somewhere similar

Cheers bud, will have a look. Tbh the £40 budget is me trying to be frugal (plus I'm sorely tempted to buy one of those £230 Korean monitors that I absolutely don't need)

I had a quick look last night and it seems you are able to unplug the connectors, but they have that security glue on them plus there is a ribbon cable and a few other connectors. TBH my advice would be to change the control panel before you begin, that way everything will be in place and there's no messing about involved. For the sake of a few days it would certainly cause less headaches that way. Unfortunately, I've got to do it the hard way.

Not sure how the panel was broken mate. It looks like it's either been picked up by it and not the handles provided () or the screw that holds it in place was way overtightened. CM have replaced it for free so I'm not overly fussed really. HTH.

thanks mate that glue is the same as the pcb on the stacker i have that fell off a while ago was a common fault then, they did get back though eventually and said they send leads as well unless the leads are thicker not sure like you say i will change it while the case is empty as there is quiet a few leads would be a pain with the case built even worse yours with the rad.

Ordered a GTX690 and wondered if it will be worth while having one of my GTX580's as a dedicated PHYSX card or not?

If not, when it arrives may as well sell them.

I currently have a 600w Corsair PSU, I'm guessing I'd need to upgrade that if I wanted to put another GTX580 to go in SLI?

Not.

Linus did a review of using an Nvidia card as decicated PhysX ages ago and the performance deteriated iirc. Plus the card it will put extra strain on the psu and pump in heat into the case.

IIRC 2 SLI'd 580's can pull just over 600Watt at full load, I have mine running from a AX1200 and no problems.

Cheers. It's a bit of a pain really as I'd have to find money for a better PSU as well as the additional card.

Probably easier to just upgrade to a GTX670 or something.

If you want my opinion mate, I would just go for a single card, SLI has advantages but the extra heat, power draw and occasional glitches just isn't worth while IMO.
