I see, mate.

You could always set your 2nd gpu to just do the AA.

Yeah you can do that mate. Go to the AA options in the nvidia control panel and the option will be in there. Select override AA then select SLI AA. This will make your 2nd gpu do all the AA.

Is anyone having trouble with the latest NVidia drivers? As I posted before, I was getting regular crashes using the older drivers on Windows 8, and now that I've upgraded I no longer get these. However I do get some 'empty' tasks opening up (see pic). One of these appears every few hours, and doesn't seem to have an effect on performance. The screen grab was from it being left on overnight. If I hover over one, it doesn't have any content, and when I click on one of them, they all close down.

Any thoughts? I don't even know what to google for

quick edit, I should say that this may have nothing to do with drivers, but didn't think it deserved a thread of its own. Also included what it looks like when I hover over it.

Typical, its overwritten the original picture I uploaded with the new one instead of putting it alongside For everyone that missed it, I sometimes have my entire taskbar filled with those boxes if I've left my computer on overnight.

Taken from R3D forum:

There should be a public announcement today, but I have been allowed to share this info right now:

- AMD will end monthly Catalyst driver releases starting with Catalyst 12.5 (which won't exist). They have decided to focus harder on quality and improvements vs regular updates which may not bring many new things. This way there will be no need for two separate driver development paths every month: one to get the official WHQL driver and another that keeps doing the regular driver development.
- We should expect more "hot fixes" and "preview drivers" when new games are released or urgent fixes are required.
- There is a beta driver we are testing right now that fixes the Eyefinity tearing on the third monitor when mixing outputs. I have verified that it works with Souther Islands based cards, so I don't know if it will work with previous cards. Anyway, if no major issues are found, this driver should be publicly available next week.

Exclamation

Is this thread for Beta Drivers too?

If so 12.6 AMD Catalyst Beta is out.
AMD Catalyst

You can keep track of what is being released by following Catalyst Creator
https://twitter.com/#!/catalystcreator

Edit also how can I fairly test improvements that drivers give? Is it a matter of just running Heaven?

Thanks

edit - these drivers are decent, gave a nice increase in performance. I'll be keeping these running instead of 12.3 for now.

Just wondering, has anyone had any experience at all using nvidia dev drivers? I've tried every single other driver available to no avail to get Windows 8 to work, so I'm resorting to these now. I just followed the link on this thread Max Payne 3 - Dev driver version: 302.59 - NVIDIA Forums and downloaded them. Its a risk but figured its worth it to be able to use my pc again.

I think you'll be hard pushed to get any proper support for windows 8 until it gets a proper release.

Can't you just use windows 7 and be happy with it fully working with supported drivers.

Nope because that means buying it I really like the metro interface of Windows 8 for use on the TV, so once it has a proper release I'll be buying it, but I don't want to pay twice.

There are some proper drivers being released very shortly (R302), otherwise I'd have just reverted back to consumer preview instead of release preview as that worked okay.

Revert back then.

Can't see amd or nvidia supplying drivers for test releases of windows 8.

Its not released until maybe October. Enjoy running on a glitchy demo operating system until then...

At least check facts before being so helpful Nvidia have confirmed that a driver is due for release imminently, AMD have already released theirs. Both also released drivers for the consumer preview previously.

That says that they will be released in a week and the post was dated the 1st June so they obviously hit a snag.

I'm not a fan of running the beta of the operating system purely because its new and 'free' I want support and reliability, which you won't get 100% until it's proper release. It's too much messing and faffing about.

Hope you get it sorted

Yup, they've delayed them for a week to provide a 'better windows 8 experience', whatever that means! Agreed it is a lot of messing about, but I just can't justify the price for the sake of 6 months. These dev drivers seem to be working so far though, so fingers crossed Still don't work

GeForce 302.80 Windows 8 WHQL Drivers Out

Quote:
Download NVIDIA GeForce 308.80 Windows 8 WHQL drivers.

Release Highlights:
This is a preview GeForce driver to be used only with the Microsoft Windows 8 Release Preview.

This driver should not be used with Windows Vista or Windows 7. This driver offers full support for the new Windows 8 display driver model WDDM 1.2.
not me seen Beta windows now but this is surprising especially WHQL

Drivers | GeForce

Unified windows 7+8 driver and implements TXAA, though the only game that uses it is The Secret World, and even it doesn't use it as the patch for it isn't out yet.

Have fun.

Interested to see if anyone still uses Driver Sweeper when installing new graphics drivers these days or is the Nvidia installer considered safe now?

Never used it once.

Always do a custom install that removes all old stuff and then installs new.

12.6 and 12.7 were utter pish, and the 12.7 CAP's were messed up too, all games are smoother on 12.4, hope they get it sorted out for the next ones.
12.6 and .7 caused GSOD's, 100% fan's and other crazy bugs.

Did you do a clean install of Windows or just uninstalled the old drivers and installed the new ones?

Sorry, I uninstalled the old drivers then rebooted with the new card in. Not a problem at the moment as i have a new install to build this afternoon (new cpu/mobo/ram etc) and will try it again with a clean install of windows.
