I happened across this interesting alpha build of a game called Overgrowth. It reminds me of Skyrim and you play as an assasin rabbit - seriously! - and prowl an openworld doing quests.
Some of the textures, animations and combat systems in the alpha build are fantastic. I particularly like the blood trickling down the character's neck after he has been knifed. It isn't perfect, alpha builds rarely are, but it does show promise. Missing from the demo is the game's music and elaboration about the game's plot and quests.
It will probably ship with a fully functional editing kit for modders, so we'll hopefully see a lot of content added to the world.
The guy who is responsible for this is, I believe, one of the people responsible for some of the most amazing video editing projects I've ever seen, whereby you take high-res digital photographs of a given area and use their software to edit your video in order to boost its resolution, clarity and detail. It'll really take the world of video editing by storm if a consumer product is developed from the results of their academic studies and design of the software. Just thought I'd add that as an aside since it shows that the guy responsible for this game has an eye on improving the resolution and detail level of different media. Consequently, it's likely that he'll try to ensure that the textures in his game are of great quality and clarity.
