I don't see why not? All you really need for the most part is a microphone.

I'm sure there has been voice control in PC games before (one of the Tom Clancy games IIRC) so it's not really bringing anything new unless they used the movement part of kinect in some way as well.

CONFIRMED: Mass Effect 3 voice commands will only be available on the Xbox 360 version.

Disappointing news for those who have played Mass Effect 2 on the PC and are keeping their saved games for the sequel. Such gamers will now have to choose - play the definitive version on the Xbox or continue your saves across on the reduced functionality of the PC.

Personally wouldn't use voice controls but it's a shame to see it left out of the PC version. Hopefully the game is as good as the last one then I won't care about things like that.

Realy!?!? It seems the next natural extension to gaming IMHO and it'll be interesting to see if Mass Effect 3 manages to take it into the mainstream (as opposed to the lacklustre attempts to date). The motion control will also be interesting - again depending upon implemention this could turn gaming on its head

I do the majority of my gaming sessions when I am on a late shift or off the following day which means they are normally from 10pm onwards and my gf is sleeping. So if I'm shouting at Miranda at midnight I think she might wonder what I am up to!

Fair enough - it could sound a bit strange I suppose.

Voice control in games isn't exactly top of the list of wants for most PC gamers though is it.

I'm not so sure - we use it in multi-player to talk to/co-ordinate with our friends - why not in single player too? If done well - and I admit that is a huge ask - then surely it could add a vast wealth of options to a game? In the immediate term the ability to communicate basic commands could make gameplay alot more fun. In the longer term it could revolutionise things - imagine a game like Fallout 3, Oblivion or Mass Effect where you could have real conversations with the NPCs.

I wouldn't disagree with that, all I mean is that I doubt you will see people getting there boobs out about it like, for example, the fuss that erupted when Crysis 2 was released without DX11y shininess.

True - although it is probably not something we would 'miss' until it actually arrives and we can see what we are missing.

Mate you seriously need to get a Fragnstein. Have a look at the threads on here discussing it. You won't use a pad for any shooter again. I promise you won't regret it.

I play on my sofa too. Absolutely love it mate. I can't see why anyone uses a keyboard.

Because auto aim sucks. For FPS where you want accuracy and not just "hit that general target" - you need a mouse. In Fall Out 3 on PS3 or Xbox can you hit a persons head in sniper mode, without using VATS?

Do you have a gaming PC?

I think you may have misunderstood. I do use a mouse, just not a keyboard. It's the keyboard that I don't see the need for.

How do you aim accurately? WASD offers movement, jump, use but not aim or fire.

Read my last post - I use a mouse for aim and fire.

Use the Fragnstein for movement aswell as jump/crouch and then depending on the game I use either the D pad on the Fragnstein or the side mouse buttons (or a combination of the two).

What about choosing specific weapon? Fall Out 3 allows you to use 1-9, 2 is ammo change but 1 and 3-9 are weapon presets.

Also crouch, sneak and use pipboy light, and tab for pipboy.

I don't bother with that as I find the mouse wheel is good enough. You don't need to change between that many weapons that fast in my opinion and the benefits of the easy movement far outweighs anything lost. Fallout 3 does have quite a lot of buttons but there is the D pad which gives you four buttons, as well as having three side buttons and two top buttons on my mouse (aswell as right and left click).

In Oblivion used to change weapons, from bow let off a few volleys then change to melee as the enemy is closing in. Similar to Fall Out may snipe deathclaws take one out but they run towards you so need to change from crouch + sniper weapon to stand and assault rifle with AP rounds quickly.

Not got that far in Fallout 3. Like I say, it's not perfect but the positives outweigh the negatives.

Imagine how good Mass Effect 3 would be if it had 4 player co-op story in it.
