I think the problem is that alot of people who play hardcore play THE RIGHT AWAY (i.e aim for the head) that way it will always seem like its one shot kills but it really isnt.

If you give hardcore a go I think you will enjoy it alot more than normal (it will take some time to get used to it

lol, so people that play normal mode dont realise that you are better off going for headshots? Only the leet players in hardcore must be skilled enough to know that eh? Ive got over 500 headshots so I think even us normal mode noobs know how to do headshots

Ive played hardcore enough to think that it isnt really suited to this kind of game, thought the same with B2 and project reality - I just dont find realism mode/mods conducive to this kind of game. In games like Arma where the game has been designed around the realism element it is a different story and it works very well , but I think in BF with game modes like rush realsim/increased damage just doesnt work so well.

As I said previously I prefer to be able to react when Im shot at, in hardcore mode you dont usually get a chance - if someone who is half decent gets the drop on you, you are usually dead before you can fire off a shot, where as in normal mode you can react, shoot back and if you are better than the other person you will usually manage to kill them before they finish you off. Also as normal mode lets you sustain more damage you usually get more entertaining prolonged firefights I find.

This is just my opinion of course, obviously some people love hardcore mode and thats great, each to their own.

Yep I see your point but you can do all of that in hardcore mode its just ... umm less forgiving thats all.

In regard to 'noob' playing on normal servers - I was simply saying that generally you will find that on the standard servers players are running around crazy (i.e call of duty style) spraying and praying. I also found this alot on the demo as well (until some servers showed up with HC enabled). - nothing wrong with that of course - as u say.. each to their own

Both modes are fun to play IMO but I feel that hardcore just encourages the team element a little bit more ,
whilst normal mode is better for those who just wanna run and have fun without taking it too seriously.

I quite enjoyed a little bit of Conquest yesterday (even though I was after few beers), though I was rubbish and could hardly get to 1.0 K/D ratio.

Since yesterday evening 9 people have been kicked out for hacking by PBBans from AVF server

No, Punkbuster is ON all the time. It only says it's off when you connect to server, but that is just a little trick to fool EA's master server. I even changed welcoming message to 'Punkbuster is ON and streaming'

There are some new Catalyst BETA drivers out (10.3b) that apparently fix the bad flickering in BFBC.

Hopefully they fix the grey spawn screen in HC mode severs, I doubt it though as I think it's an issue with the game and not the drivers.

I am on the server now m8 and it shows as PB on in the loading window.
It is also saying my ping is 130ms that seems high to me.

Don't worry about about in-game pings, they are not working properly. Value is often wrong by 50-100ms

EDIT: (found info)

Ping in-game differs from real ping (usually 50-100ms difference): This is due to round-trip latency for an in game packet.

I am sure I have seen evidence of cheaters now, not me being killed, because even Gvers can do that I mean I thought I saw a 0 level bloke kill me with a tracer - which cannot kill anyone (reported on kill cam) and even if it was a grenade, how did he have the tracer gun at 0 level?

And other ones of 8 level with mgn ammo? I never got killed again by the same person so could not be 100% sure before gobbing off and accusing anyone.

Doesn't suprise me to be honest. The server side of this game is just shocking to be honest. How EA can mess things up so much is beyond me.

Awesome! Just got myself up 3 levels, to level 6, in an hour.

Got a couple of 5000 point awards, including a gold star. No more rusty sheriffs badges for me.

Also got the red dot sight now.

My mouse is playing up though. I think I need to get a wired one and extension cable that will reach the sofa.
