Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 - Problems

Hi, sorry if this is a wrong section, but I wanted to ask for help and let others say what problems they have, concerning Modern Warfare 2.

I recently just installed my CODMW2 and I've been having some sort of text problems in the game. Just when i launch the game and see the menu, the text looks all blurry and i cannot see anything what is written in it. It's the same in multiplayer and singleplayer..
And yes, I've tried updating drivers, tried different versions of drivers, tried changing resolution, reinstalled the game and few other tips from Google, but nothing worked..
The game can still be launched, but the text still remains same in the gameplay..

The game should run smoothly, judging from my specs:
AMD Athlon 64bit Dual-Core 2.4Ghz 4600+
ATI RADEON x1650 Pro
2Gb RAM
Windows 7 Ultimate

Here's how it looks:

Game Menu:

Please help, thank you

I would say its a resolution issue.

What monitor do you have and what is its native resolution?

What resolution does your monitor report, you may change it in the settings of MW2 but it can revert back to something else once the game runs.

The monitor will show what its actually running in when you bring up the monitors onscreen menu/info.

I notice that the diagnals look jagged such as the large number 2 in the title and the minimap, i dont have the game myself so cant compare but that looks poor quality.

Try turning off any Anti Alaising or visual enchancement options in the drivers and the game to see if that make any difference.

Good Luck

The Forge

I have to say i really think your graphics card will struggle madly with this game. It's really old tech now and ratehr slow compared to modern games. I'm sure it doesn't even support Shader model 3.0 which may be the problem.

Well my card indeed does support Shader 3.0 and it's not as old that it would have problems with the game. My specs, meet all the minimum requirements:

OS: Microsoft Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7 (Windows 95/98/ME/2000 are unsupported)
Processor: Intel Pentium 4 3.2 GHz or AMD Athlon 64 3200+ processor or better supported
Memory: 1 GB RAM
Graphics: 256 MB NVIDIA GeForce 6600GT or better or ATI Radeon 1600XT or better
DirectX: Microsoft DirectX(R) 9.0c
Hard Drive: 12GB of free hard drive space
Sound: 100% DirectX 9.0c compatible sound card

I think this might be some incompatibility with the video card, that it needs to be resolved. I had some graphics problems on my ATI RADEON x1650 on Resident Evil 5, and i needed a patch to fix it...
So i'm thinking this might be something similar..

Probably a driver issue since the graphics card is so old. I imagine that PC will struggle with MW2 regardless as it barely meets the minimum requirements. Won't be smooth.

Well, i used to have that card in my old PC and it even struggled wih City of heroes, a 5 year old game. I used to play battlefield 2 on that card and it was horrible. Slow, jerky, lots of graphical lag and I'm even sure it would drop frames to keep the frame rate up. Change the card if you can. If you're limited to AGP then something from This list (but not the 6200A, not a huge improvement from your existing card) will really speed your PC up. Your CPU will then be the thing holding your PC back. You could always consider a whole new PC as the ultimate upgrade. Your games will thank you for it and you can get some pretty speedy stuff for around £500 these days, although spending more will mean you spend less in the future.

have you tried reinstalling the game?

ive had this problem with dark crusade even tho i well met the spec at the time, reinstalling fixed it.

could maybe down to an unstable OC, if so, revert to stock settings for your reinstall.

your system although meeting the min sys req, doesnt mean you can play the game at anything higher than min spec, that shouldnt matter with txt though.

You could also try using Vsync if its not already on. As that is often a good fix with older cards.
