scaling is not right in windows 7 64 bit, chopped off edges

hi all

i installed windows 7 64 bit yesterday, i used to have vista 32 bit, scaling was ok with vista

since i installed windows 7 64 bit i cant get the scaling right, i have tried all different catalysts, ranging from 8.6 to the latest to see if i can switch on the option for scaling, but nothing is working

so you have an idea of what everything looks like for me here is a picture i took with fraps, for some reason when i took the picture the edges are not chopped off, strange, well here is the picture Image - TinyPic - Free Image Hosting, Photo Sharing & Video Hosting i have drawn on it using paint, the outside of the black line is what is chopped off, the resolution of what you see in the picture is 1920 x 1080, i have tried all different desktop resolutions to see what happens, even when i have a 1920 x 1080 desktop resolution that dont help, at the moment i have a 1280 x 768 resolution, i have tried some other resolutions too, but nothing helps at the moment

i had this happen with vista once but i fixed it eventually by messing around with scaling options and other little options like that, but this time i cant do that because it dont work

i am willing to send you a little donation if you can help me because i want this fixed but i dont know how to fix it

i have teamviewer if anyone else has it and wants to help me that way

or we can just do everything here, i dont mind i just want to fix this so i can be happy

thank you

What kind of screen are you using? Also, what Radeon card is installed in your system?

If you are displaying onto your TV Screen, it could be a setting on your TV, might be worth checking your settings to check for overscan etc.

Re: scaling is not right in windows 7 64 bit, chopped off edges

This happens to me with Win7 and my Plasma, luckily for me the Nvidia control panel allows me to change the resolution by reducing it one pixel at a time to get it right. So instead of 1920x1080 its actualy displaying 1900x1060 to fit my tv screen, which works perfectly.
Doesnt the Catalyst panel have some thing similar or are you stuck with supported resolutions only?

You could always add custom resolutions if you need to with powerstrip, Powerstrip Guide for the powerstrip impaired

I agree with the powerstrip recommendation, I can guarantee you will be able to fix your problem by playing around with it's many settings.

All you have to do is adjust the overscan in catalyst. Very simple.

It should be under display settings. Click the monitor and scaling options will be there.

Open Catalyst control panel.

- Go to Desktops & Displays

- Find the display you want to configure and right click on its icon from the lower part of the window and choose Configure

- go to the Scaling Options tab and adjust the slider as you see fit, so the image can fit the entire TV screen and click Apply
