Which Football management sim?

Hi, I'm not a huge football fan, nor am I the biggest football management simulation player but I was wondering which is the best of the sims out there?

From what I can see there are 3 big names:

Championship Manager 2010
Football Manager 2010
Fifa Manager 10

The problem is i'm not sure which one is the best in terms of detail and game play?
I always remember Championship manager being the biggest but from what I remember Football Manager took the crown from it in recent years?

Any peoples views and input on these would be good, cheers!

Re: Which Football management sim?

Football manager all the way for me and always will be. It's the only one that makes you feel like any changes made to your team, formation, tactics actually make a difference. 2010 has some great new features and it's also got a great tutorial for newcomers.

The latest champ man has shown improvements but the game engine is unrealistic and so are some of the transfers. Fm is as realistic as you can get.

FIFA manager is a joke compared to fm or champ man.

Cheers mate, that's the general impression I got from peoples reviews etc, obviously some reviews of the others made them seem quite good though, but the general feeling i'm getting is that FM is the way to go.

I remember the days of Champ Man in about 2000 when it was so simple, quite enjoyable though they didn't have much life to the enteratinment value, but having looked at videos of some of the newer ones they look very addictive and like they could be for quite some time too!

Re: Which Football management sim?

Well the team that brought us the legendary champ manager are now the team behind footy manager, hence why this is now the king of management sims. The beauty of fm is it really rewards you if you spend time looking for players to fit your playing style and the game engine is excellent. Add in all the stats and information you could possibly think of and it all makes for the best experience without it being to overbearing.
For newcomers it can be a tad daunting but once you spend an hour just scouting through all the different options, features etc it all becomes 2nd nature. Plus there's the ingame advisor incase your not sure of something.

Re: Which Football management sim?

Anyone know if you can make the font bigger on Football Manager 2010 or if there is a theme that has large text - playing on a HTPC small font is straining my eyes even on a lower resolution.

I play on my HTPC and have not had a problem, how big is your screen? When I get home I will see how I set it up.

40" from about 9ft away.

It's okay on the lower of full resolution from about 4ft away, but that's not practical...
