MMO of choice for AVF members?

Used to be a 3year EVE player but eventually burned out. Too much like work. ATM im installed another hefty 1gig patch to try the 10 day Warhammer online game but no ideas what after that.

So what is the MMO of choice around here?

Re: MMO of choice for AVF members?

I found that to be too kiddy, as my kids played it for 2 years or more and i usually sat on their bed talking to them and watching in the process.

Its got better ive heard with subsequent addons.

Re: MMO of choice for AVF members?

OMG!!! Ive already spent more than a day downloading a 6gig client for Warhammer online and now its downlaoding a series of patches weighing in at 4.3 gig.

***, how hard would it have been to have the latest client for download? If this is a measure of how they run this game, they can **** off.

Im soo ****** off.

Re: MMO of choice for AVF members?

Warhammer is pretty slick, worth waiting for IMO, the public quests are genius!

Have you tried Lord of the Rings Online? Been playing it for the last year or so, still really enjoying it.

will do after WH. Still got 9 days left but I read LOTR is a very very good MMO. One of the better ones that got it right since WOW.

Re: MMO of choice for AVF members?

Sticking with EVE Online, here. Love the complete freedom of doing what you want, when you want to... with spaceships!

Of course, it's not that simple anymore when you're in a Corp/Alliance, but since my character is maturing now to the point where I'm flying a lot of Tech II ships, it's getting fairly exciting (and expensive!).

Re: MMO of choice for AVF members?

Don't know if you feel like waiting a bit for a new MMO, but there are a few absolute beasts coming soon!!!

I am particularly looking forward to two in particular...

Star Wars: The Old Republic...Bioware and should be absolutely awesome, looks so good in the trailers and stuff on their website!

Star Trek Online, this is looking pretty good, should hopefully satisfy my MMO'ing needs for ST.

Then there is Stargate Worlds, don't know how it's progressing but has been looking pretty good.

I should say that I have very little idea when these are coming out though, but defo worth a look!!

I've been playing LOTR online too and it really is worth a look if your just not sure what you want to play.

There's a free 10 day trail so it won't cost you anything.

I used to play eve which I really enjoyed but found I no longer had the time to make a real impact on my playing.

Also playing WoW as well but might need a break - couple of my mates are going into star trek when it launches for a break but not sure myself.

And have played (in no order):
Warhammer - stopped as my old PC couldn't handle it
D&D - was ok might reinstall now it's free to play
Guild Wars - not too bad but none of my mates played it
SWG - all I'll say is it was SOE's fault
CoV/CoH - good fun but groups were difficult to get at times

I might also give LOTRO a go since it has a free trial
