The type of DDR memory on a graphic card doesn't matter. As long as it fits into your PCI-E slot, it will work fine.

The fastest memory on graphics cards at the moment is DDR5 i.e. HD4800, or HD5800 series.

aye, the memory on the graphics card speaks to the card, not the motherboard so dont worry.

Your system memory will need to match the motherboard.

Dont worry too much about the DDR* number, it doesnt make enough of a difference to buy a card based on the RAM type. Go visit various benchmarking sites and buy the best performing card you can get hold of for the money you got.

Agreed, although I would add that any card still using DDR2 memory won't be much of a gaming card.

Yeah, but that's DDR3. memory speed for graphics cards does matter, but it's not the be all and end all, but given the choice of a DDr3 or a DDr5 card of the same specs, take the DDR5 card every time, possibly even pay a little more for it.
