Re: New Mechwarrior game?
Dam that looks good, the cityscape looks awesome (a lot better than Mech 2's square blocks.... lol and that was a system killer at the time). About time for a FASA Mech game, one of my favourite series/licences on PC.
I thought they had some licencing issues after 4, but glad they are bringing a new one out.
Nothing better than tinkering with your mech and all the parts then kicking some ass.
Bit of a design fault in that mech pilot eject though, lets go straight up then drop back into a mini-nuclear reactor explosion......... not clever!!!

Does look smart.
Never played any of these games, how do they play then?

Re: New Mechwarrior game?
I still think the opening video to Mechwarrior 2 was one of the best in video game history! Looking forward to this!

+1 to that ..... that intro was immense......
They play pretty good as far as I am concerned.
A lot of the enjoyment is upgrading your mechs and weapons.
However, from what I can remember the missions were pretty good. I think the big difference this time round from this video is the level of detail.
One complaint has been that the games always were kind of bare with little cover, this looks like it could change that.
I only used to play singleplayer. Mulitplayer wasn't that good really, everyone just decked out with the biggest mech and biggest guns, no real strategy. You would all pile into the central area and have 6 guass cannon shots hit your cockpit and die.
A joystick is required though, especially one with a Z axis so you can move your upper body independantly, one of the great skills was strafing round, while keeping your upper body on your target.

Re: New Mechwarrior game?
I used to love playing the mechwarrior games and played the 4th one online a bit.
There is some more blurb here from an interview with the developers:
IGN: MechWarrior Q&A - The First Details
And this has a snippet where they talk about all the mechwarrior 4 games being rereleased possibly for FREE
IGN: MechWarrior 4 To Be Re-Released
Pity I've got them already but still ....
