Scott, this has it all. The graffiti on the wall, a hoodie texting away under the ever watching eye of big brother, traffic speeding past - it just screams out urban life of today. One of your best yet imo and will take some beating

Many if not most great pictures are staged.

Do you prefer snapshots? That to me isn't art.

I think this is a superb image, well thought out, planned and technically excellent.

Many certainly. I even staged one myself for the reflection comp ...I was an hour in the garden for that one, yet everyone assumed it was taken on a whim. You see, it didn't look like a set up.

I suppose this is where I differ from the general view . It's almost there for me but for the problem I have with the hoodie. If he isn't Liquid's [nice] mate [well he's not a threatening looking hoodie, is he] who's been told to stand in view of the camera and near the graffiti and put his hood up and look as if he's texting and stay there till I get a car in the shot, I'll eat my hat.

Liquid, I'm sorry I don't like your photo too much, and I would normally not have detailed so much information as to why. I just wanted to reply to Twadger's comments. I voiced my honest opinion of your photo in the knowledge that it went against the general feeling. I'm not the first person here to do that and I hope I'm not the last. There is not point in not being honest here - I'm sure everyone will agree. We all welcome feedback.

Not a problem. Like you say - we all see things differently. If I could have spent all day setting up the shot, it would have looked very different - as it was, I shot 3 or 4 from this spot and this was the best of the bunch. I'd spotted the location on my way to work the other morning, and nipped down during my lunch break to see what I could get. A lot of my photography is pre-visualised - I know what I want before I make the exposure, or even find the location - the knock on effect can be a static, almost staged look. Probably comes from my previous life in advertising
