November 2007 Winner - Transport

Lots of Revising and studying to do this month,Big exam on the 27th so Im not going to have a lot of time again

Took this this evening, trying to compose for a vanishing point,it seems to have worked quite well with the leading lines. Not too much processing on this, white Balance adjustments and levels,I used a layer mask to remove some other people,Ill post that in the its not valid(I almost entered it but I felt the disrupted the composition).

Re: 19:32 To Paddington

Very nice.

The colour and contrast really make this shot. Great composotion as well, leads the eye very nicely.

This is going to be a tough one to beat.

Re: 19:32 To Paddington

Lovely composition - definitely worked IMO. My eye seems to be drawn to the first strip light under the platform canopy which is a bit distracting, but its a minor niggle really in what is a cracking shot.

Fair play to the girl for standing so still for 6 seconds with the train rushing past just a few feet away

Very well executed and duly "Vulcanised" It is setting a standard..

The title does sound a bit like an Agatha Christie Novel though!

Thanks,The girl stayed still all on her own,she was on the platform with others which I masked(see its not valiid)I almost managed to photograph her on her own but it was a bit difficult as I was contending with a couple of drunks jumping in front of the camera and trying to pose.

Thanks

Well executed photo, Vulkan

i expected to see a lot of blurred train/vehicle photos this month and if that was a separate category, this would be at the top

Nice one indeed. Colour, composition, lone person in empty station at night standing too close to the speeding train. Very good .

It's the colours of the train that really appeal to me. Very nice. You've done a great job at removing the other people too.

Cheers.

Re: 19:32 To Paddington

I was so close to going down to my local station last night to get a very similar shot, we had lots of very low cloud so it would have looked like it was disappearing into the mist.........I decided against it as I had just driven back from Manchester and fancied a drink instead. I'm not sure if i'm glad I didn't go now as this is a great shot and I would have liked to have had something similar, even if it wasn't for competition use.

A very well thought out shot, smack on with the shutter speed and great lead in. Kind of raises the bar immediately for this month methinks

Very pleasing to the eye this one.
As well as the light trails I really like the purple colour on the roof.
Nice work once again, vulcan.

Re: 19:32 To Paddington

Lovely image Alex, removing the drunken people was a good idea.
The composition is bang on, leads the eye right down the platform.Love the detail in the floor. The idea lady standing on her own, was very lucky for you, she finishes the whole picture of very well. Finally the lights inside the station iliminate the platform canopy really well, and I love the way that they reflect of the tops of the moving train. Lots to keep the eye moving around within the image. Shame we can not all get rid of drunk people on platforms that easily in real live.
Well done great image.. Jay

Really well captured vulkan.
I love this version with the vanishing point and the lone traveller, the one in the not valid thread seems too cluttered with people.

I have to say after seeing the original that the post processing, although fairly extensive, has resulted in a fabulous final image, excellent

Dammit Vulkan - why can't you just be good at your signature HDR landscapes (which are unquestionably brilliant)? This is almost certainly my front runner for a vote .... I nearly lost the will to put an entry in at all when I saw this - awesome image and as usual enhanced by some superbly professional PP
