Re: British Telecom

Not one but 5!!.. Does anyone still use them...
It most certainly looks "British" : Couldnt say the same for British Airways Logo

Selective colouring is al right and it certainly works here.. it has been maligned due to inappropriate overuse
Exif is embedded .. the date and time would have been sufficient!!

Re: British Telecom

WOW thanks for the feedback guys im chuffed to bits that you like it, my train of thought competition wise has been elsewhere till the postbox shot, then it dropped like a penny, I knew where the PBs are so dashed down this afternoon (For people in the area they are next to the townhall and the empire)

Regards
Pete

PS Glad the selective colouring works as it took hours to do ...!

Very nice, this is very British. Well done.

I really like the way each box has its own look, something missing and so on.

Re: British Telecom

I agree about the selective colouring. This is a shot where it works for me.
My eye is drawn to the fact that you're not absolutely centre and also the perspective lean towards the right.
But as everyone has said, 5 in a row is a real find.
I have one a country farm near me (god knows why), but the colours are really bleached on it, so it doesn't quite have the right 'british' look.

Re: British Telecom

it was done by duplicating the layer, desaturating the new layer, then using the eraser tool to "rub out" the b/w revealing the colour from the previous layer, took a long time to do with high magnification just to get it right, once done the layers are flattened and saved the image out as a jpg....!

Re: British Telecom

It's certainly a good find, I managed to find two in Birmingham, but to find five is great.

The selective colour gives a nice feel to the shot but I personally feel that the interiors of the boxes look a little false with the treatment applied, I think I would have left those in colour. Also, and this is my main criticism, is that the shot isn't level and slopes to the right, this isn't helped by the fact that it appears that the shot wasn't taken 'square on' to the centre box (either that or they are enevenly placed which you can't do anything about).

Overall, it's a very British scene so it fits the theme really well but for me it's let down by some technical elements.

Re: British Telecom

It's a fairly simple operation.

Select al of the image (CTRL A),select image from the top menu tabs, transform, rotate. Then simply grab a corner and rotate the image. You can add a grid by using CTRL ' When you have it straight just double click. You will probably have to crop it then to remove the white areas left by the rotation where it goes out of frame

Fantastic shot Pete

My favourite so far.

I was going to do something very similar but havent had the chance to go to that particular town (busy and all that). Never mind got lots of other ideas in mind.

I particularly like the selective colouring.

Well done

I haven't seen one of those telephone boxes for a long while around here. I think that most of them were sold off over the years which is a shame as they were a very iconic symbol of Britishness. Good shot and certainly on theme
