Thanks: Gave 0, Got 1 | April 2007 Winner - Over The Edge
Missed last month so thought I would have a go this month
Took quite a few attempts this one as it's actually me on the bike, so had to use self timer with continuos shot and run to my bike then ride off all in 10 seconds.
Editing involved was cropping the image and also bluring out the top of a sailing boat mast that had sneaked into the bottom of the picture (all done in PSP)
Camera - Casio EX-Z70
Shutter speed - 1/1250
Aperture - 3.3
ISO - 50 (doesn't show in EXIF for some reason)
Focal length - 38
Any comments welcome

This is really good.
Fits in with the theme, great colours and very sharp.
Great work

That's a really exciting pic - full of dynamism and energy. Right slap bang on theme too. Bloody good job!

Thanks for the comments!
Was the first and only thing that I could think of along the lines of the theme.

Great idea!
I like the way the sun glints off of the forks, it gives the feel of a really enjoyable ride.

I was a bit concerned people might start injuring themselves with this month's theme. Hopefully you weren't too mashed after the incident in pic #3 |

Fortunately where I took pic #3 it was only about one and a half foot drop onto stones. I was attempting to swing my back end out so I was balanced on my front forks just at the right time. Ended up I didn't have time to press the shutter release button, run to my bike, get balanced, and then pull off the endo.
So started attempting the other shot off something slightly higher so I could get the camera further under me.

I think this is a great entry. Well composed with the main feature being the bike/rider and the hint of the edge bottom left. I also like the anonimity of the rider with the arm covering the face.
Strong entry in my eyes, nice one.

I think this is a great shot and leaves me thinking "what is over the edge"?

I like this too a great capture & nice composition, especially as it's a self portrait!
I don't know if it's my monitor, but to me it seems a tad to dark, underexposed, as the sky could be a fair bit brighter imho. I would keep the darker subject tones though, it makes a great semi silhouette effect against the sky.
When I first saw the theme this was one of the thoughts I had, and was wondering who I could pester to ride or jump over my camera. There was a Monster Truck show here at the weekend as well, I was wondering if I should try and get something like this there, with a truck in mid-air; too tricky, I decided. You solved the prob with the self timer, great idea.
