May 2006 Competition - 'Weather'

Went to play bowls today

No luck, may have an entry here though.

I am not in the picture !

Resized and border added, otherwise straight from the camera

Bill

Edited with new frame after a few repeated comments about the red frame, you are probably right, hope this finds favour.

Thumbs up

I have to ask before anyone else does, why is that old dear using her umbrella inside the shelter?

very nice picture mate, although the old fella does look have a bemused look on his face.

Great, great shot that says so much. Thats what this comp is all about and in one moment you have captured the essence of our weather with something that is essentially English.

Brilliant, I think you are in the lead.

Pete.

Picture was taken tody at the outdoor club I play at in Colchester.

Said I only re-sized and added border, just remenbered there was a bit of USM'ing going on as well.

Think the lady on the left has her brolly up because the rain was coming in towards the hut and she was trying to keep her skirt and knees dry.

i dunno, colchester bowlers must be a bit wimpish.........us Middlesex bowlers play whatever the weather, even if its hailstoning or the bowls are aquaplaning!

ok so we the stupid ones......lol

nice pic tho.....i do like the bloke looking towards the camera, almost gives the picture the essence of a pack of animals grazing under a tree, one of them spots the possible danger-to-be whilst the others carry on doing their thing.......

have to agree with bristol pete on this one... its not always the most technically great shots i seem to like (although it is a good photo), its people who've really thought about the theme and managed to capture something different and interesting. definitely a consideration for me.

class shot

sums up the British weather perfectly. I think the only way to have that improved is if there were some morris dancers on the grass :D

Great shot, really sums up British weather at it's best.

I'd lose the red border though

What a great shot. You have perfectly summed up what the British weather can be like. Fantastic!

But I agree with Steve - loose the red frame...

have now edited the entry with new frame after a few repeated comments about the red frame, you are probably right, hope this finds favour.

Oversize image placed behind with gausian blur to put it out of focus, black border to whole thing.

Bill

Hmmmm, myself, just the black border would have done the trick on this one. Still in the running of the top three for me though. This, Bristol Pete's and BowenJones.

Wonderful! Is Mrs in the middle having her sandwiches during this 'short break' in the game? I think she should be saving some for later by the looks of things...

love this picture mate, it's a pic of people experiencing weather and i think that even if someone looked at it outside the context of this comp the first thing they would think is "weather" spot on

This should be a 'post a caption' entry

If this was cropped to just the people in the hut, it would remind me of passengers waiting at Bournemouth airport for their taxi that never turned up after their holiday in Teneriffe! (Before it had an arrivals terminal).

Nice one.

well done Biscuit761, I think you should find the people in the picture and tell them what stars they are
Well done and a great choice for this month.

This photo would make a good birthday card with a clever humourous comment to go with it!
