Sorry Den - though it's an interesting shot in its own right and I love the colour processing I've no idea what you were after here with this one and it certainly doesn't make me think of "stopped motion" - sorry to be so negative :(

That s me out for another month then,.i think i will just stick to photo sharing .

Well I like the golden tones. What did you do with the book to get it to look like it's spinning? :) I don't think it's a bad entry, it certainly is stopped motion.

Like Miranda I too like the colours and the overall tonal quality of this image. There is obviously movement that has been captured so it fits the theme. I'm intrigued to know how you created the motion. It's a worthy entry in my opinion. :smashin:

It is a pretty cool photo and lovely colours on this.. I like it and it is defo a good entry for the competition...

Considering it's a 25s exposure, I guess he either moved the book or moved the camera to give the effect, but sorry to say it doesn't really work for me, even though I've attempted such shots myself in the past

Sorry Den - didn't mean to put such a downer on you :(

den9112 08-02-2012 11:31 AM

Jim , my only issue was Fitting the theme , the Books , three of them were moving when i took the shot, i then stopped it after a long exposure ,so to me it was stopped motion ,hence the title as well , i used a old microwave plate with the wheel runners to do it. :smashin:

Certainly different,
The blurred effect in my opinion implies motion in the image, not quite fitting the "stopped motion" theme

Thanks Den - I was hoping that you'd post a bit more about how you shot it and what you were after :)

TBH I hadn't even realised that you had shot more than one book and I didn't mean to imply that the shot wasn't in keeping with the Theme.

I am mainly a wildlife photographer and my flickr and website shows this, however i use this forum to try and help me to improve on the creativity side,i have plenty of obvious stop motion shots including loads of animals which i could have used (but are mainstream and obvious)my choice i know,i don't like going down the photo mag project route to look for shots either, just what comes to mind at the time and then i follow it through with what i have available,....regarding the shot ,the title hit me first Poetry in motion , a song that i heard a lot of when i was younger and then i looked at how to fit it in with the theme, maybe i should have gone the opposite way round,so basicaly i had poetry in motion untill i stopped it ,maybe one day thinking out of the box and going for creativity and sticking to it may reward me in the coming months ,we all see things differentley and i will continue to try and not go for the obvious ........as i will for next months comp.:smashin:

As you know Den I also like less obvious ( AKA IMO Creative) theme interpretation and TBH that's the aspect I find difficult about this months theme - how to "fit" the theme without being "cliched" and I do appreciate what you were trying to achieve and admire you for taking that approach and it is indeed a cracking title :)
