Over the Edge - 'The Drop Off'
My first entry….
I know nothing about cameras but recently bought an underwater housing for my cheap point and shoot Panasonic DMC-FX07!
I took this shot of one of the dive guides whilst diving in the Caribbean a few weeks ago. We had just swam out over and proceeded down a volcanically formed vertical wall.
09/04/07 13:56
f2.8
4.6mm
1/400s
ISO 100
Using Google's 'Picasa2' I then post processed the image by sharpening it and then doing an auto adjust on the colour and lighting.

Definately not the UK, though we do have good conditions sometimes .
It was a little island called Saba, about 15 mins small flight from St. Martin, it's part of the Netherlands Antilles.
A lovely unspoilt and an untypically caribbean island. I think mainly divers go there as theres no beaches, but the diving is out of this world.

Great entry mate. I really like the composition. Considering how poor the light must of been down there it is really excellent. Great 1st entry!

Er, not sure....
Maybe your work place blocks images from certain sites, as I hosted my photo on tinypic.

Thanks.
I got some really good photos (I think! ) of aquatic life and landscapes down there.
I was really pleased that after spending the same amount as the camera itself cost (£150) on a waterproof housing, that I got some nice images back and some reminders of the trip.
I did 17 dives over 8 days diving, it was only 3 weeks ago but seems like an age away now.

Re: Over the Edge - 'The Drop Off'
It's a great image. I've never been diving but it's images like this that mean that someday I will definitely have to give it a go. Good stuff!

Nice one.The portrait framing was a good choice. Could you link me to where you got the housing,Id love to try this.

Thanks for the kind comments, unfortunately it looks like it'd been discontinued (they never sell many of these compared to the cameras!). Howver, you can take the model number from the page and should be able to research a supplier over the web.

Good luck .

Yes, if you ever get the opportunity to learn then I recommend it. I've only been diving for 7 years but the tranquility, relaxation and experience gained from it I've never experienced else where.
I mainly dive here in the UK but some of these sites abroad are so worth scrimping and saving for! I came up with a grin a mile wide after EVERY dive in Saba.
Once you've mastered the diving it's another ball game attempting to take photo's down there
