December 2009 Competition - Launch and Discussion

Well done to Barry (bodoman) for taking victory in Novembers competition on the theme of Dinner Time

Well here we are again, the final comp of the year, I've lost count of the number of times I've said that

There have been some good themes with a lot of great entries with some fantastic winning shots and long may it continue!

Still one more to decide though and for December; bodoman has chosen the theme

Let there be light

His explaination being "Well we do have lots of lights coming up this month"!

As always

will once again be supplying a 10x8" print of the winning shot

And

Gordon @

who is once again offering his services for a free ISF calibration, terms and conditions apply, see below

Closing date is Tuesday 29th December at 5pm or thereabouts.

Terms and conditions for ISF Calibration prize:
Prize: 1 x ISF calibration
Only available on mainland uk
Calibration will be done when Convergent are already in your area
There is no cash alternative
If winner is out with mainland UK then if travel costs are covered we will honour the prize

I think people will concentrate more on the "light" part, than on the whole sentence. It will be interesting to see what we all come up with, my brain is already ticking away!

agreed, I think its important to see it as a whole and not just 'light' but what do I know as I havent had enough creative brain cells in months to even send in something, hope to rectify it this month

well done Bodoman

Stonedcamel, my comment was just a pun on your name, i think quite a few entrants have won on there first attempt, be nice to have a new
face in the comp and hope you do well

The comp rules are you must have the EXIF attached, which is all the info
about the settings and when the photo was taken, it should be still intact if you "save as" after any editing rather than just "save".
If you keep the original you can also e mail that to Zone, if you entry has lost the EXIF

first time entry

Hi,

I was just hoping to clarify all the things you need to enter, all the info is in the properties file for the pics before any edit. My photo is full size at the moment and no extra software is handy on this pc, whats best for a resize and what dimensions should I use.

Many thanks in advance.

Longest dimension on picture resize should no more than 800 pixels and try to make sore that the final jpeg file size is around 300KBytes.

Most image editors allow you to retain the original EXIF image info. when you "save tas" so you should be fine but if the EXIF gets lost then you can just email the original image to Zone the Moderator or post a link to the image with the full info.

Don't forget to include info with your post about any Post Processing you've applied to the shot.

HTH

Jim

The Mods do them in batches when they have the time - as the compo closes this evening they should all be up soon in time for the voting page to be set up
