Re: The Union of White and Clear

Thats a cool shot, great lighting and nice detail.

The clear fork at the back almost looks like glass, very striking, I especially like the way it magnifies the texture of the white fork underneath.

A strong contender for best picture this month I would think

Did you use a blue light or did you tweak the colour? Great choice either way.

i melted the end of the clear fork and pushed it against a flat surface to make the entry of light into the clear fork better. then i used a fishing bite alarm with blue LED and just proped up the forks with the end of the clear fork over the LED.

Re: The Union of White and Clear

Wow - this is an absolute stunner, which I could see displayed in a photgraphy magazine. This is a really clever image. Visually it's simple (single subject, black background, blue colour) and complex (with lots of detail) all at the same time. Depth of field is perfect, with plenty of the image in focus, albeit with a nice bokeh on the fork handle. Brilliant work!

Re: The Union of White and Clear

Confession time

TBH - when I first saw this (and subsequently posted) I forgot which thread it was in and didn't realise it was a Compo Entry for "Plastic Fork"
I actually thought it was a shot of some abstract Glass Ornament so I think it's worked very well.

Re: The Union of White and Clear

Very strange, but I like it. Looks almost alien, or squid like. Like the blue lighting. One of my idea was to melt a fork, but don't think it would have been as good as this.
