Glass by candlelight

Set this up after playing with a few positions. It's a black background with the 2 objects on a mirror.

Nikon D300
2.5sec
f/32
ISO 800
48mm

If the exif's missing, I can email the original.

Re: Glass by candlelight

I love the soft light the candle is casting on the bowl to the left, but for me the candle flame itself is a little too harsh for the rest of the picture, and it would have been nicer if the bowl and its reflection were more vertical.

Yes I would agree that the image is well lit, and could work even better with a slightly rearranged composition. It's a good entry though!

Re: Glass by candlelight

Good effort and well lit. Like how you know they are resting on something, but you just can't see it, and they appear to be floating in the air. Agree about the glass bowl looking at an angle.

Re: Glass by candlelight

Very nice shot and I like the fact you used the smokey glass to add another texture

Re: Glass by candlelight

I agree, this is almost lovely - the flame is a bit harsh and the sloping glass is a bit off-putting.

Re: Glass by candlelight

I think this would work better with either one or the other, but both together is trying to capture too much in what could be an exquisitely simple and well judged shot.
