Refraction

Had a few ideas for this month (great subject), but I settled on this one. Used a large glass paperweight and sat it on some cartridge paper, then waited for the sun to come in through the window. 50mm 1.8 and 32mm of tube.

There were a few that I liked (they're on the Flickr stream) but settled on this one. I'll concede, however, it's more a photo of the optical effect of glass, rather than the actual glass that the theme might suggest...

NOTE: It does significantly benefit from clicking through and looking at the large version (in my opinion at least)

Re: Refraction

You captured the colours! I tried something like this and found it was not so easy to get the spectrum to expose properly, so well done. You are right in that it's a photo of one of the properties of glass, I would have preferred a glimpse of the glass as well... I actually very much like the 1st photo of the paperweight on on your flicker stream!

Nice and subtle!

Re: Refraction

I know what you mean, but I thought if I'm taking a picture of teh refraction I may as well have the balls to only have the refraction

Yeah, I quite liked number 1 on the stream too. Couldn't make my mind up

Re: Refraction

It is always nice to try to think outside the box and come up with something original and interesting so I love the idea of photographing the effect that glass can have on light.

I do love the first picture of the paperweight on your stream too though, gorgeous green colour

Re: Refraction

This is nice but the one of the paperweight on your flickr stream is *so* much better. Sorry.

Re: Refraction

I agree with everyone else! It would have been better to include the paperweight as well.

But this is still a great entry i think

Re: Refraction

Not seen the other shots, but I like this as an abstract piece. Looks a bit like them northern lights....
