Lots of people have queried this, and I don't understand the technicalities of it, but it does. This one was recommended to me buy a guy who knew what he was on about, and I found he was right. I think it's something to do with it supporting 50ohms, and component cables are just 3 phono cables that are 50 ohms. Or something like that. I've probably got all that the wrong way round - I really don't understand all that stuff.
Put it this way, when I start up Metroid Prime it detects the component input and says "do you want to activate progressive scan". When I say yes, the Nintendo suddenly crispens up remarkably, so it is using progressive scan, and it is sending component through the switch box.
I've tried the component cable straight into my TV, and I've tried it through the switch box, and I can't see any difference at all.
