GC Component Probs

Just bought a brand new component cable for my Cube however when connecting to my TV, get a picture and sound, however all the colours are washed out yellow.

Socket works as 360 fine, cube works fine with composite cables.

Fairly sure the cable is the issue, but thought I would check see if anyone else seen this and it wasn't the cable.

The Cube is a Jap one with US/Jap switch wired in.

Re: GC Component Probs

Hi cvlewis, welcome to the forums

Hmm, really not sure what could be causing your problems here, I used to hook up my Gamecube with component cable but never had any problems with it.

Assuming it must be the official Nintendo component cable as I'm sure there were never any 3rd party component cables produced for the Gamecube.

I really can't remember if you need to change any console settings when first changing over to component, don't have my Gamecube connected at the moment to check. I remember having to adjust console settings on the PS2 when changing over to component though.

Re: GC Component Probs

There is no setting for component in the console menu. I presume he's got a Gamecube with a digital av out and not the recent Gamecubes without one.
Always buy official cables, you may have a hard time finding one anywhere. Check Ebay for the cable.

Re: GC Component Probs

There's something odd here because unless Jap version have a different design the GC's digital out socket doesn't carry sound. The official component cable is a simple picture only carrying 3 wire red/green/blue design. To get sound you need to use the other connection socket to 'breakout' the audio.
