Hi

After playing some Gamecube games on my Wii I realised that it is a very capable little console. So off i go and get a second hand GameCube from Gamestation. Cost £35. This console will go in the bedroom to play on a 480p native projector.

Looking at the back of the Gamecube, there are two connectors. Analog out and a Digital Out. I only have composite with left/right audio at the moment and the picture is a little noisy as expected so wondering if there is a way to get Component or SVideo out from the console to the projector with Left/Right audio too.

Any ideas?

The component cables are the best but are quite few and far between.
Visit ebay and search for 'gamecube component' and you'll find a few on offer. They're not cheap though.

If you search ebay for 'gamecube s video' you'll find one at the moment, should be cheaper !

Only NTSC titles have 480p scan ability - Nintendo removed this option from PAL titles. Proberly because 525P was not supported at the time.

You can use NTSC games on a UK machine with a Datel FreeLoader disc.

When using the component cable you still need to use anologue port for the sound.

There are no third party component cables for the GC as there is a special encoder chip in the cable.

or you can chip it google qoob or xeno gc they cost around a tenner and arent too hard to install, then it'll play all regions, backups and homebrew stuff, without any pesky disc swapping

Yes and you can open it up if carefull and hack it to a vga cable

if your going to open up your GC you need a special tool (Star type thingy) anyways I used a BIC pen, took out the ink part and then used a flame to heat up the end of the pen and then pushed it into the GC Screew whole - let it cool for 5/10 secs and then undid the screws. Do this for all the screws.

Some ppl used one pen per screw but I used the same pen and by the end it was molded so well then I could use it without re0heating for each screw.

P.S. QOOB installation is a piece of **** I did it with an oversizes iron and no soldering experience!

exactly the same here, also tweaked the laser's POT to make it read more types of media, that real easy too

Got a RGB Scart lead from ebay for £5, plugged that into my RGB Scart to SVideo converter box I had lying around and got a pic as clean as my PS2 (which used to run via component).
