Bizarre question for you all...

...has anyone tried to rewire an N64 controller to work on the GC? I'm tempted to buy a spare on ebay and have a crack at it for laffs, if only because I love the N64 pad more than any console pad ever!!!

Any thoughts?

Re: Bizarre question for you all...

Wouldnt have thought it would be possible tbh.

The 'Cube pad replaced the N64's C buttons with the C Stick & as far as I'm aware this is needed on a fair few games (Star Wars for example looking around the cockpit's etc.) & wouldnt be possible with the buttons.

Re: Bizarre question for you all...

But the stick wore out badly on the N64 pad, the Wavebird is much nicer.

Re: Bizarre question for you all...

I'll have a look at the wavebird...my point was that I hate the 2 analogue stick thing that you have to master on all controllers except the N64 (especially with 1st person games like Halo). To me it's like the classic 'rubbing-tummy-patting-head' gag, just can't seem to get it, but was fine with the c buttons. I like the A stick left hand, and buttons right hand.
Plus I love the trigger position as well. It drives me nuts that you can get adaptors to use other controllers on the GC but not Nintendos own stuff.

*edit* Just looked at the wavebird and same problem as I have with most controllers - if the regular up/down/left/right pad was on the RIGHT instead of the c-stick I'd be away. It's nothing like the 64 controller. Boo.

Re: Bizarre question for you all...

Must admit the N64 pad was a great design, but the GC pad I never had a problem with, very rare that you would have to operate the two analogue sticks together in any way as an integral part of the game. Still I bet give it time and some third party will produce a N64 pad clone for all those N64 virtual games
