Most of the games I've got don't have a widescreen mode.
It is game dependent.
The import machine does have a 480p mode though. When a game supports it it will show a 480p (widescreen progressive). I can't use the Component outputs however so I can't vouch for which games support it.

The english console ditches 480p mode in favor of a PAL60 mode I believe.

Sound is through stereo jacks so at best can only be Dolby Prologic II (Rogue Leader supports this) most of the time its just DPL.

Hope this helps
Alex

GameCube supports 480p progressive and widescreen.
But to utilize this feature, software(game) has to support it, too.
You need a component cable for 480p progressive mode. (UK version of GameCube won't handle progressive.)

I have....
Super Monkey Ball,
Smash Bros DX (supports 480p)
Pikmin (support 480p)
Star Wars Rogue Squadron II (supports 480p)
Virtua Striker 3 (supports 480p)
Biohazard

Only those two don't support 480p.

P.S.
The difference between progressive mode and interlaced mode is just amazing. Whole different graphics.

Apparently, all PAL GC will support widescreen mode, which you can select to be on or off always, duno if its true, could well be, seeing as polygons are easier to squash to make them appear inwidescreen than normal pictures.
