It's a tough one because they are definitely not for all tastes.

I really rate Wave Race: Blue Storm - the level design is great and the challenge is enourmous. Unfortunately the multiplayer is only great when all players ore of equal skill although, when it's good it's one of the best multiplayer racing games ever!

Pikmin was engaging for a while but I quickly tired of it
Luigis mansion has lots of little nintendo touches that elevates it above the alsorans.

Super monkey ball is a fantastic party game because of the simple control and it's a great leveler - unfortunately it gets too hard too quickly and I would have preferred three different easy/medium courses so friends and I can have fun more than once!
As a single player game it's also good and the difficulty level makes more sense but you need to be patient!

One of the above games will probably suit you down to the ground but 'which one?' will be down to personal taste.

Good luck!
(no help at all as usual)

OK so far the best games in order for me:

1. Luigi Mansion
2. James Bond 007 Agent Under Fire
3. Super Monkey Ball
4. Star Wars Rogue Squadron
5. Sonic 2

Others that are good fun but I tired of: (selling them)
Simpsons road rage, Wave Race, BAtman Vengence

New games to watch out for in the next 4-8 weeks.

Redisent Evil
Eternal Darkness
Spider Man
Burnout

It's going to be a very good summer for the GAMECUBE!

For me:

1. Wave Race:Blue Storm
2. Super Monkey Ball
3. Luigis Mansion

While Rogue Squadron looks the business, I didn't rate the game overall. Hated Super Smash Brother Melee. Looking forward to ISS2 and Biohazard/Resident Evil.

The speech is all in English, although the text I believe is in Japanese. So you won't know what is being described to you on screen. I am waiting for the US version out on 1st May.

As for the English launch, my personal recomendations would be as follows:

1. Super Monkey Ball, fiendishly addictive. The mrs won't play it if we have friends with kids round. Her cursing is uncontrollable!

2 StarWars Rogue Leader, at first it seems rather shallow, but the long term challenge is high. Trying to get all the gold medals is tough and I still find myself drawn to it.

3. Wave Race, I never played the N64 version, so any similarities were irrelevant to me. It is a finely tuned racer, with
a nice difficulty curve.

4. Luigi's Mansion, would be higher on my list if it weren't for the incredible ease of the game. It may be short, but it is incredibly sweet, full of the usual Nintendo imagination. The only thing that would have made it better for me would have been to have to hunt more for some of the boo's. You have to collect 100 of them, but you just come across them as you go along, no real searching required.

I understand that the UK release will have extra rooms and challenges - so it looks like an essential for day 1
