Check out the following link LikSang They sell an S-video cable for the gamecube and it is only 2.05 UKpounds. They will charge about 12 quid for shipping, which is a bit heavy, but to soften the blow I ordered mine with an extra controller too.

I shall be interested to see if anybody knows of a cheaper place to order, however LikSang have always provided an excellent service with the half dozen or so orders I have made with them.

A word of warning though, don't be tempted by the speedy UPS shipping option. A friend and I have both had awful experiences with UPS. As it turned out, it would have been quicker if we had plumped for standard airmail!!

You can also use your N64 or even SNES AV lead with your Gamecube. Exactly the same connector. S-Video editions are a bit hard to track down (try small game shops) but they make quite a difference, even on the lowly SNES.

Is there anywhere else for importing the GC?
Shipping (UPS) $46.00 (~31.53 GBP) from Lik Sang is
a bit too harsh.

And did anyone have trouble with customs?

You most likely will get hit by customs if you order from Lik-Sang. Both my friend and I did for the tune of about £50.

Other place to try would be DVD Box Office They are Canadian based and it works out a little less than Lik-Sang. I would suggest mailing them 1st to check on stock/availability as the Cubes seem to be selling pretty well over the Atlantic. You are still most likely get customs charges, I imagine that would be the case wherever you order from though.

DVD box office have always offered me a good service, I have ordered many DVD and games from them. On the downside, they are sometimes a little slow to process an order and there is no way to check stock availability from their website. But seeing as I got Super Monkey Ball for £29 and Luigi's Mansion for £33, I shan't complain too loudly and don't mind waiting that extra time.

Almost forgot!

If you order from box office, do the transaction in Canadian $ rather than US as it is a better conversion rate just now.

e.g.

Game cube price = $349.95 Canadian = £151.52
or $233.30 US = £161.31

I got these figures from the Financial Times currency convertor on their .web site , quite handy for all you importers out there.

Are they out of business or something, it says the service has been turned off for this domain.

Also, the DVD Box Office unit wont have the JAP/US switch or step down convertor will it?

After numerous calls and surfing the web it appears that Gamecubes are in really short supply. I'm in Houston on Thursday hopefully I will be able to get hold of one. Walmart have told me they should have a delivery on Wednesday so wish me luck.

I have already ordered the leads from Lik-sang.

I will pay the Customs charges on entry as i'll probably buy a shed load of DVD's as well.

Wish me luck

Avoid DVD Boxoffice like the plague. I have read on the boards at ign.com of people waiting months for the goods to arrive from there. Strangely it only seems to be games that they are slow with as the DVDs seem to ship quite promptly.

My advice would be to order a GC from lik-sang as i dont think that it would be that easy to get hold of a console in the USA at the moment as they are apparently in short supply. Lik-sang will mark down the price of the goods for you to minimise the amount of tax that you pay if you ask them to do so.

For more info on importing gamecubes go to the gamecube import invasion board at ign.

Hope this helps

That's a shame, you woulda loved it too.

What now, are you going to import one or are you going to wait now? I have just been reading on http://www.totalgames.net/forum/ that it is almost certainly coming March and maybe as soon as the 15th. Mind you, it is still probably worth importing considering Nintendos rather dubious past PAL conversions.

It's a good question, need to beg the wife for some more money. I think I will wait see waht the Pal cube is like before making a decision.
