Import Gamecube: language and ratios?

1)
I am awaiting my import gamecube fro lik-sang and something just occured to me. The lik-sang gamecube has a switch on it that converts it from jap to USA (and vica versa).

When in USA mode will its internal menus be in english or japanese. I am referring here to set-up menus, memory cards options etc NOT to gamecube games.

If they are in Japanese how hard it is to set certaing things up?#

----------

2) Does the gamecube play all games in 4:3 or widescreen?
I have a widescreen TV

Sleep easy.

The switch to American also switches all menus to English.

This was something I checked when I ordered mine

stewart,
you probably know this lready but incase you don't if you play both US and Jap games you need 2 memory cards as they can't hold both formats data..

the ratio question seems debatable..my understanding is that if you use component some of the games switch to anamorphic widescreen mode..but I couldn't swear to it..
