hey guys, I've been very busy recently and I have lost touch with what is happening in the gaming world, so I wondered if anyone could give me a rundown of the most anticipated releases for both the ps3 and the xbox 360, and also any important news about each console? (e.g. updates/firmware etc)

In the past I've seen that I tend to buy multi-platform releases for the 360 due its better online connectivity, but have the psn's issues been fixed, and is it now on par with Xbox live?

PSN is still not a patch on Xbox Live and multi-platform games are normally better on the 360.

Xbox 360 elite prices have dropped to £194. 60GB console is being canned. Best games - modern warfare / mw2 preorder, fifa 10, halo odst.

Ps3 slim 120gb replaced ps3 80gb this week. best games as above but batman is meant to be really good, not a typical trash converted from movie.

ps3 firmware v4. blu-ray upgrades, linux support removed. no b/c.

why keep one? tough choice...

Xbox 360 - Cheaper than PS3 with some Good Software Updates.

When Compared PS3 is better than Xbox 360 and Sony is going to release a Slim PS3 Console (120 GB) in September for 250 GBP.

Keep both and buy a wii as well. There are AAA games on all three consoles.

Depends on what your after, If your a hardcore gamer and play games for graphical reliability - then 360. If your a mixture of both games and films - PS3 due to higher quality video hardware

If you dont care about any of the above and prefer a little play around with games on a daily basis - Wii

Or if your a nostaligic gamer like myself, then don't waste your money on any of the above and buy a Snes or Megadrive.

What type of game are you interested in?

If I was supposed to choose then I would choose to dump my X360, the fact that a lot of the games aren't exclusive and are also available on the PC helps to make this decision plus I guess I prefer the PS3 exclusives.

I've got s PS3 Slim, 360 Elite and a Wii and they are all worth keeping! Below is a list of exclusives for each system that are coming soon/just out and that I am interested it. Most are the same as Ricki's post, but i've added in a couple of titles and the Wii as well.

PS3 - GT5, Uncharted 2, Demon Souls, God of War 3, Heavy Rain, MAG, FF XIII Versus, Ratchet & CLank Future: A Crack in Time

360 - Alan Wake, Mass Effect 2, Forza 3, Halo ODST, Halo Reach, Left 4 Dead 2, Crackdown 2

Wii - Metroid Prime Trilogy, New Super Mario Bros Wii, F1 2009, Red Steel 2

I must admit that I use the Wii less, but it's great to play with my young son who loves stuff like Wii Sports Resort etc.

The PS3 and 360 both have 7 or 8 exclusives coming out soon that look great and that I will probably buy (i'm not sure if i'll dabble with Halo ODST, but will get Reach). If I owned just one of them then i'm cutting that list in half.
