Games/High Score Competition

Not sure this idea has done here before (probably, but I missed it, knowing me!) Anyway, I sometimes need a good reason to dig out old games and play them and this is the perfect excuse.

The rules -

The winner of the competition chooses the game and the challenge

Originals and Emulators can be used - as long as the versions are effectively the same, it doesn't matter. However, different conversions have differences and so they must be the same format (If someone says SNES, it must be SNES and not the Mega Drive version for example!)

Cheats are NOT allowed - unless the person choosing the game allows for them. However, everyone must be aware of how to utilise this cheat.

Screenshots/photographs must be provided - it's proof. No-one is seriously going to check for authenticity of shots, however, it would seem a shame if someone really want to fix it.

The only prize is getting to choose the next competition and the pride of knowing you truly are the best at that game.

No bad losers, arguments, etc... this is just for fun, so let's keep it that way!

So, as I started the thread, I may as well kick it off...

Game: Aero Fighters 2 (Neo Geo AES/CD/MVS/MAME)

Number of credits/lives/continues: 1 credit/3 lives/no continues

Aim: Who can get the highest score! Simple as!

So, anyone fancy this?

Re: Games/High Score Competition

Once again the idea is sound, i did something similar a week or two ago, but sadly only decided to post the competition threads in the retro gamers social group, therefore seriously restricting the chances of anyone taking part and choosing freeware games from the remake threads instead, if you are up for the challenges feel free to join here :- http://www.avforums.com/forums/group...ro-gamers.html.

With regard to your thread, if you are open for an opinion i can see a couple of problems.

1) There is less chance of someone owning the same game on the same system, the emulation route encourages people who may not own the original to play it anyway, therefore i think most people won't bother.

2) Like my thread everyone will need to take snapshots or screen grabs to confirm high scores etc, most people here just can't be bothered.

Like i said the idea is sound, i'd love for this to take off here and get loads of members involved, sadly other gaming and retro gaming only gets a small audience, best of luck with it anyway i hope you prove me wrong.

Re: Games/High Score Competition

Joined the group mate!

Sadly, I think you're right, but you can't win the raffle if you don't buy a ticket, so thought it was worth posting on the off chance there'd be some interest!

I'd be fairly happy to trust people and make screenshots optional but recommended. I would just hope people would have the sportsmanship to be honest.
