Toshiba SD-H802a Problems

Hi Chaps,

Have recently bought the above drive so that I can back up all my HD-DVD's and play them via PC to Popcorn Hour NMT,

My PC specs are:-

AMD 4000+
Mobo: Asus A8n -SLi
2gb
XP SP 3

When I install the drive to my PC via IDE on slave, my PC just locks up and doesn't load up into windows ? As soon as I take the drive out it boots up ?

Anyone with ideas ? I am not looking to play the DVD's on the PC as I don't think that the CPU will handle it anyway.

Oh and I have also installed the UDF file reader as well,

Any help warmly appreciated.

Thanks

Re: Toshiba SD-H802a Problems

So if we assume that you are on the same cable as the Hard drive which maybe set to CS (Cable select) then do the same for the DVD drive or better still move it onto a ribbon cable of it's own if possible (2 IDE interfaces on PC). These days it is better to fit a SATA DVD drive as you do not get any of these problems.

Re: Toshiba SD-H802a Problems

Hi - Thanks for the response,

I have a 2 x DVD drives on the same IDE ribbon, one of which I took out to replace with the HD-DVD and jumper is on slave as it was on the one I took out.

I also have 4 x SATA HDD's

I thought this would be straight forward lol

Re: Toshiba SD-H802a Problems

Although you say you took out an old one and it was set to slave are you sure the one still in the case is set to master.
Basically on one IDE cable you should have the drives set to either.
Both CS, which is nice and simple.
Or one set to master and one to slave.
