Will a PC Blu Ray Burner bought in the US work in a UK PC?

Hi,

I am off to the US in three weeks time and was thinking of purchasing a Blu Ray burner whilst out there for my PC.

I need it only for archiving HDV footage shot with my Canon HV20 [yet to be purchased!]. I don't actually need the drive to watch commercial blu ray films on my PC.

When I get back from the US I am going to buy this PC : - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...id=781&subcat= . Which I assume is going to be good enough to cope with the demands of both editing HDV footage and also writing it to a Blu Ray Disk?

Can anyone confirm if the US blu ray burner will work - will it be region coded? I thought that at the moment region coding is not enabled on blu ray drives?

I will need a blu ray burner no matter what so even if I don't buy it in the US I am going to have to buy one in the UK. So which one should I go for which offers a reasonable balance between price and performance.

Cheers

Burner will work no matter what region. If its anything like DVD drives, the region will be set at first use of a commercial disk. If it already comes set at source, then just get AnyDVD HD - which will remove all the DRM BS in addition to the region coding. And the same software will be sufficient if you decide to get an HD-DVD drive in the future.

Hi Synchrouk - Haven't really looked at any one in particular. Just thought if i see one in the US it is bound to be cheaper than one here in the UK. Any recommendations?

Cheers
