Re: Pioneer BDC-202

I had a black one on order, seen the beige ones in so changed my order.
Mine has been despatched & I should recieve tommorrow-12-07-07.
Be intersting to see how this performs as I already have a HD DVD player so wanted the Blu-Ray to complete the range of films I wanted.
Ill post my findings once up & running.

Re: Pioneer BDC-202

You don't know how close I was to buying one from Overclockers yesterday. I was watching the stock tick down during the day, until they had 1 left at about 5pm. I've got to sort out some other things before I commit to getting one though.

One issue I have is that the front of my case is all silver, and you can only get the drive in black or beige! I've even thought of spray painting the front, or putting on some silver foil. How sad is that....

They just stick on easy job, but they don't fit all drives though.

The Dabs site shows it as discontinued.

That looks pretty good. Was it easy to fit? Is the bezel aluminium or plastic? I guess if it sticks on the front, there's a chance the bezel could sit proud of the case.

Re: Pioneer BDC-202

Fairly easy the problem you may have is getting the eject button to align up apart from that very easy and yes it's made from 3mm aluminium.
Most cases have have slots for the screws so you have fine adjustment so the drive stays flush with the case front.

Re: Pioneer BDC-202

Got mine this morning. Very pleased with it (although I only have 2 disks, Black Hawk and Ghostrider) It works flawlessly with these disks and PowerDVD 7.3. Playing Blu-rays from hard disk did not give me the option to resume from last viewing point, it does now playing from BD disk. Also if I paused playing from Hard DiskPowerDVd crashed, not so playing from BD disk. It's very quiet also using AnyDVD HD speed control. I forgot to try it with this turned off, will try it later.

What more can I say, it works and it's quiet. As it was OEM you get nothing with it, Sata cable or power adaptor.

Edit: Don't notice any extra CPU usage playing from BD disk over Hard Disk

Another Edit: Crash on pausing was not fixed by the new drive but by the latest PowerDVD patch

Re: Pioneer BDC-202

Picked up drive this morning

Does not work !!

Pc will not boot with the drive connected at all.

A bit of looking around throws up this link on pioneer website
http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pi...otherboard.pdf

It tells us there is a recognition problem wtih AMD’s chipset using the SB600 Southbridge, which my MOBO uses

Not a good start!

Bummer eh Batty. Wasn't aware of Pioneers compatability list. Does your mobo have the new AMD 690 chipset? I've got an older Asus A8N-VM CSM in my HTPC, and that uses the Nforce 430 chipset, so (cross-fingers) it may be ok.

Any BIOS updates for your mobo (which is it exactly by the way?)
