NEC 7173a - Bitsetting Firmware not working

Hi,

Picked up a NEC 7173a and because I need +R media written as dvd-rom to be more compatible with my players i've flashed it with liggy and dee's bitsetting firmwares (both 1.02 and 1.03)

Dvddecrypter and nero cdspeed both report the writers booktype set to write dvd-rom as it should be but every disc I burn is still +R

I hav'nt had any trouble flashing previous NEC drives (2500/3500) with bitsetting firmware and it not working so i'm stumped as to whats going on!

Burning with nero 6.0.0.0

Any ideas?

Cheers

Re: NEC 7173a - Bitsetting Firmware not working

As a follow up to this I've managed to get it working.

My original firmware was 1.01

The hacked firmwares I used were 1.03 and 1.02 (I thought I might as well upgrade along with getting bitsetting functionality)

This was my problem! The higher version hacked firmwares just don't seem to want to let me bitset!

The hacked 1.01 bitsetting firmware worked

Cheers
