I honestly can't say I'm particularly loyal to any one source. Like thekingbeyond I'll go for the cheapest and most reliable whether that's an internet or high street retailer. However I always buy and never rent.

If the review is of King Kong or some other blockbuster that is available from just about anywhere then i would probably buy from the cheapest place. However if it was something abit more exotic I would use a direct link from the review, so long as the price was reasonible (say under £10) I would just buy it from there.

I tend to look for service, quick delivery, and US covers for my R1 catalogue. I'm not hugely price-sensitive.

It wouldn't affect my decision if they were a review sponsor, forum sponsor or not. I would choose my supplier based solely on the other listed factors.

For me, it's a combo of service and price. I currently buy far less dvd's than I used to and tend to wait for price drops before taking the plunge. The only dvd's I will tend to buy on release are special boxsets, although I don't buy too many of these (the last one being the Ultimate Matrix boxset).

When you put down RENT in the poll, you're not distinguishing between services like LOVEFiLM (which I use) and those that offer the more traditional drop-in service like Blockbuster. Those that do online rental services give out a lot of useful info and also allow ratings - so that tends to help with decisions too.

I think it's fair to assume that rent in this case is the opposite of purchasing, regardless of the mechanism used. The other half of the question relates to the reviews on this forum, not on Lovefilm's site or in a magazine.

I tend to buy alot of Asian films so for me its where I can get a copy with subtitles and a good soundtrack (DTS), hopefully at a decent price. For ordinary run of the mill titles I tend to look for a DTS track on it and if its a little bit dearer so be it.
