I would leave it as it is, but maybe dispense with some of the bakground music as it can get quite distracting.

Would definately prefer it split into two, just simply as a matter of convenience for when I'm unable to listen to it all in one go. (Would make it easier to find exactly where I stopped listening)

I agree with "Tejstar" the background music is somewhat distracting.

Use chapters in the podcast so you can quickly select what you want to listen to. The "Stuff" podcast on iTunes uses them very effectively. This would save having to split it up.

i think it works with one whole programme as the first gave me info on dvd's something which i rarely have an active interest in, but it allowed me to learn about stuff i wouldnt normally, if you see what i mean. one of the casts might have movies id be interested in, without me hearing it in there i wouldnt have known about it.
i hope ive made that clear enough

Chapters are a good idea, as you can then just skip to the bits you want to listen to.

Also, how about embedding pictures for enhanced podcasts on video iPods? It's be great to see some pics of products that are mentioned. It would certainly help digest the information better.

I intend to put chapters and images in, but I will have to buy a Mac to do it as the chapter writing software is Mac only.

Glad you've added separate links for the MP3 and M4B files. Initially, it was linked to the M4B file and couldn't get it to play on my Zen - glad it's made more implicit now.

I would split it, but have more in depth reviews to make each podcast longer. a good length is 30 minutes the first one was like the gadget show on tV, too short to get any decent reviews in

If the podcast uses chapters does this mean that I will no longer be able to listen to it on my PSP? I don't think that the PSP supports chapters.

I think it should still be fine - as far as I know, it's only the M4B file, not the MP3 that uses chapters.

I think it's a great addition to the AV Forums but I do have one very minor niggle. I find it a little repetitive on the section headings.
For instance when someone signs off their article they say and now here's Phil Hinton with the latest DVD reviews. Followed by a jingle saying 'The AV Forums DVD reviews with Phil Hinton' This seems to happen on every handover.

But otherwise it's great!

Cheers

It may just be me but I find that the spoken articles are quiet in comparison to the jingle with the voice over guy, is there any way they could be brought to a similar audio level as I find myself turning the volume up to hear Jason Bradbury etc. and then down again when the 'AV Forums podcast' is being said.

That is the only niggle I have in what I think is a fantastic addition to the forums.

I find myself skipping through the DVD reviews, as I'm more interested in the hardware/news side, so split into two gets my vote..

The final mix of the podcast is done correctly and this should not be an issue, audio levels are checked on numerous occasions through the production process. However sometimes Jason uses different studios and that means some of the audio is harder to mix in at natural volumes. Things are improving with each edition as we iron out bugs, but at the moment this should not really be an issue. Let me know how you listen and what equipment you use as this may help if it sounds differently on various euipment. The final mix is done with studio monitors and pro mixing software so shouldn't really be an issue.

And that's a personal choice which is there to be made on your part. We cater for everyone so although you may not be interested, plenty of others will be, so by offering everything we can, you have the choice what to listen too.
After all whats the point of buying a home cinema system if you don't intend to watch any software on it? thanks.
